Another DXVA decoder I had tried was Microsoft DTV-DVD video decoder which produces picture as good as FFMPEG. However, the downside is it sometimes fails to play anamorphic videos in their proper ratios.

I know that I can always use FFMPEG or FFDSHOW software decoder but seek time is really slow on my old laptop. Also, some HD movies can use 100% cpu and things go very sluggish.
Which version of MPC-HC are you using?
Anyway this is a really strange problem...maybe a video driver issue?
