Oddity with .ssa subtitles...
When using .ssa subtitle files as source subtitle file, any words following a COMMA (in the text) are omitted.
The good news is that .srt subtitle files work just fine... so I'm having to convert any .ssa files to .srt files, prior to burning DVDs...
