I just went through the command lines, etc for X264 and I can find absolutely nothing that has changed that might have that affect. Obviously something has changed -- so let's see what the muxing looks like. This is very, very odd.
I can also confirm DarWun's results using the older version of x264 with 0.18.07.... still skips the same way on my daughter's PS3.
Will send you the Meta file of Max Payne that I just did last night using the above method.
