Agreed, plus even if it solved it temporarily it would happen again if cause by an automatic update of some sort. I'd rather find the reason.

Yes, except that it's getting worse. I started with a few titles, including The Meg, and it would only happen when playing from MCE. I.e. if I tried to play the same title from MPC-BE as a standalonem using the recent file list (so exactly the same plalist as the one played from MCE that crashed), it would work fine. Now it's more titles, and even as a standalone, even simple HDR patterns that MPC-BE has played forever. All these titles that MPC-BE isn't playing anymore, it used to play them fine until a few weeks ago.
