Yep, and you've underscored exactly why I make them expire. It doesn't do any good for the project for someone to use an old "favorite" version... if something stops working it needs to be fixed -- and that never happens when people revert to old versions.
As for what other programs do... that really doesn't matter to me. I do what's best for
this project.
The expiration will likely go away when I pull it out of beta, but while there I'm stabilizing the software I don't want old versions floating around.
