Exploded? Literally? as in parts and pieces flew everywhere? Yeah, I'd be worried about other pieces getting damaged.

What did you replace the PSU that exploded with? i.e. what brand/wattage? I'm asking because there is a possibility that the new PSU isn't as strong or efficient as the one that was replaced. Maybe the load of video encoding is stressing the new PSU too much?

I know being heat related was suggested. Here in Chester County, PA (just west of Philly), we went from highs mostly in the upper 60's to low 70's (NO AC running), to the upper 80's and 90 the past few days. So if your AC wasn't running and keeping the house down to the same temps, over heating is a possibility.
