Taking the big brother (VSO) as the master reference, that issue is the most hard task to a free gui to accomplish
- people like speed, with good results, that's a fact
What strategy should a gui use for this ?
A) convert separately, and author all together in authoring stage ?
B) join the movies and subtitles like VDub append segments ?

A) it is only effective if you use 1 pass
5 episodes = 5 passes each
imagine more passes
5 episodes converted at 2 passes = 5 * 2 = 10 passes total
takes a long ... long time
B) it is the best way for fragmented movies, but less effective with episodes due to the limitations of : same bitrate..same samplerate...etc...
