With the settings mentioned, I made some test encodings:
Movie BluRay:

Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 23.4 Mb/s
Maximum bit rate : 34.0 Mb/s
Scan type : Progressive
Stream size : 23.5 GiB

after encoding:
Format : AVC
Format profile : High@L5
Duration : 2 h 23 min
Bit rate : 9 641 kb/s
Scan type : Progressive
Stream size : 9.69 GiB

Size change: 41,23%
Encoding duration: 16:11:13

Anime DVD:
Format : MPEG Video
Format version : Version 2
Format profile : Main@Main

Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 7 499 kb/s
Maximum bit rate : 8 500 kb/s
Scan type : Interlaced
Scan order : Top Field First
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 4.31 GiB

after encoding:
Format : AVC
Format profile : High@L4
Duration : 1 h 22 min
Bit rate : 3 146 kb/s
Scan type : Progressive
Stream size : 1.81 GiB

Size change: 42%
Encoding duration: 02:27:46

Movie DVD:
Format : MPEG Video
Format version : Version 2
Format profile : Main@Main
Duration : 2 h 13 min
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 4 708 kb/s
Maximum bit rate : 9 800 kb/s
Scan type : Interlaced
Scan order : Top Field First
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 4.38 GiB

after encoding:
Format : AVC
Format profile : High@L3.2
Duration : 2 h 13 min
Bit rate : 2 237 kb/s
Scan type : Progressive
Stream size : 2.08 GiB

Size change: 47,49%
Encoding duration: 03:14:16

So the size will go down a bit more than half of the original, which is I think more than enough for my purpose. Of course it takes long (16 hours for the BluRay) but then again I only will do this once.

I think that was all what I wanted to know. Thanks alot
