I had an encoding orgy last night, sparked by learning of ENCODE_QUALITY=4. (Better late than never, right?) Ran three full backups at the highest quality and was surprised to see that even the slowest setting isn't really slow: all three rigs managed 10+ fps in pass two.

One of the three encodes turned out a bit odd. Here's the log:

The odd bit is that output is way undersized. While the other two encodes came within 500MB of a full BD-R, this one came out at 16GB (17 215 345 624 bytes) only. I'm aware this might have something to do with using a custom target size and it's therefore my own fault... but all three encodes were set for the same 24450MB target, and the other two came out perfect. I just don't see the logic behind these results.
