Since the samples will be converted to YUV anyway when doing the final encode, I don't think the change in colorspace does matter here...

EDIT: While the original "Short_Brumak_Sample.avi" is 194 MB in size, the x264 lossless re-encoded file is 124 MB in size. That is 64% of the original size.
