Are are some details

Original vid:
2.5 hours
1080p
mkv
High @ L4.1
CABAC / 3 Reference Frames

I'm trying to convert that into a 720p video.

Any ideas what i can do? In handbrake i'm encoding with the normal preset and CRF 20

Also, if anyone knows any tricks on how to use CUDA cores for this encoding job... I've got a school laptop with a Quadro card and CUDA cores
You would probably have better luck getting an answer on the handbrake forums. Be sure to read the forum rules about how to get help. Playing the 20 questions game is frowned upon.
