In fact, the double-layer mode is less efficient than Profile 5, which is a non-backward compatible base layer + dynamic metadata. Profile 5 offers about 20% lower bitrate for the same final HDR quality, and so is a no-brainer for streaming services. It's also faster to compute; some older players are capped at 24p for dual-layer but 30p for Profile 5.
