Test on 384000 & 705600. No need to uncheck "Use system layout channels".

Log also created on desktop. If 705600 is playback as is - upload log for me.

You driver(wasapi) accept 705600. I can't do something with it.

i tested a dsd256 (11 mhz) file with foobar2k.

my yamaha usb dac plays it with 11 mhz in dsd mode
(seems the ess dac supports more than yamaha said )

when i try to play the dsd256 file with your test version its played in 192k pcm
so:

dsd64 is played in 352k (sounds ok)
dsd128 in 705k (sounds not good)
dsd256 in 192k (sounds ok)

but most high res files are in pcm and even there you dont hear a (big) difference compared to cd

I listen to quite a lot of (DSD64) SACD's that I play on my OPPO. As I run an analogue audio set-up the OPPO transcodes the DSD64 stream to an 88.2KHz/24-bit PCM stream.

Over the years there's been much technical discussion as to why the sample-rate is not higher. But it would seem it's not necessary...

may be we need a new format : a mix of dsd and pcm
instead of sacd we call it eacd (exteme audio cd)
a format with 2.6 mhz but in 16 bit or 32 and not in 1 bit
for 1 album we need a blu ray with 100gb as disc

guess to hear a difference between cd and hi-res you need not only good ears but also very good audio gear.
i use beyerdynamic dt 880 600 ohm headphones but i hear no difference. may be with 1000 € headphones .

With regard to DSD to PCM transcoding/conversion it's recommended to use sample-rates at 44.1KHz steps, not 48.0KHz steps. Hence 88.2KHz, not 96KHz

guess its the same with blu rays played in 60 hz instead of 24 hz (or 48)

do i notice stuttering with 60 hz ? hmm good question ...
may be with a side by side comparison

a sample rate is more like up/down scaling similar algorithms are used for this.

and you can blindly assume mastering is done with PCM so dsd is just well...
so if an SACD sounds better it's not because they use DSD.

and about headphones i'm using T5p are they better than dt 990 or dt 880 yes they should be but it is not a gigantic difference the diminishing return of buying a better headphone than a dt 880 is very high.

Just noticed that vlc team has released the first AV1 decoder dav1d, which they announced very often 100% faster than the libaom decoder.

dav1d: performance and completion of the first release

@Anima123
This news has already been seen. And there is too much PR. In reality, on processors without AVX2, the libdav1d is slower than libaom.

I posted about a problem here some time ago. Unfortunately it has not been resolved on my PC. I uploaded at https://www75.zippyshare.com/v/WdGU68oK/file.html a sample video clip for anyone who could help me. For information, the same clip plays with no problem on MPC HC (portable), VLC, SMPlayer (portable).

I'm running Windows 10 Pro (64 bit) v. 1809.

File / Save Thumbnails is limited to 2560 width, 10 columns and 20 rows. Would it be possible to get 4k thumbnail sheets? (This limitation has been there for a long time, wouldn't be surprised if there's some technical reason it's difficult to get higher resolution)

Many thanks! That works perfectly. However, are there any implications by doing this? Should I disable it only for problematic videos or should I leave it permanently disabled?

Just keep it disabled until it's fixed. It won't hurt anything.
