still having issues with CRU and frame drops, I just didnt leave the movie playing long enough for it to settle down, i'm now getting frame drops every 20 mins and I cant understand why, nothing I do at all changes it, i've tried several settings in optimize nothing does anything at all, its like something is locked on the hardware side on my system and creating a CRU wont even change it.

I even did a new build of windows, same issue, tried a different TV, same issue, bypassed my receiver same issue, has to be a hardware issue on my PC but is should be capable of perfect timing but it just cant do it, I dont understand whats going on.

Its not overheating, its running at a cool 40 degrees, i'm really out of ideas beyond taking a s0dding hammer to this piece of sh!t RX5700

anyone have any idea at all whats going on here or how I can diagnose the issue, unfortunately i no longer have my RX580 so I cant test that, I do have a NVDIA 1050 so I could drop that in to see what happens.

just use the optimised pixel clock +1 and you should be done.

Well, after playing around with this in mpv.net, it turned out that the above statement is only true when the default "fbo-format=rgba16hf" is used. In this case the performance of:
- FSRCNNX-8-0-4-1: is between NGU Sharp Low and Med !
- FSRCNNX-16-0-4-1: is in the middle of NGU Sharp High and VeryHigh

But when "fbo-format=rgba32f" is set (similar to madVR's internal 32bit processing), then even the fastest FSRCNNX-8-0-4-1 version becomes slower then NGU Sharp High! (A bit faster than FSRCNNX-16-0-4-1 with "fbo-format=rgba16hf")

The other NGU variants produce worse results, but still better than interpolation methods (except NGU soft).
Cheers, I'll be interested in the results. Do you have an ETA?
And it would be nice to also include NGU Sharp Low/Med/High.

Try my guide:

QB

EDIT: I would first delete any CRU changes (active and inactive) you have made in the past and reboot. Then try my guide

thanks I did that but that trashed my entire AMD install, couldnt then load control panel at all, had to do a factory reset driver reinstall, i'm going to have to start ruling stuff out. i'm going to drop in my old 1080p amd in to see what i get with that.

Were you using any custom resolutions in the AMD control panel? Try uninstalling your GPU driver with the DDU utility and reset CRU. Get rid of madVR custom resolutions, too. Then take a look at how many different resolutions Windows is showing for your GPU. It should be showing only the defaults for your display.

You should then have a clean slate, and can rebuild what you want in CRU and madVR (after re-installing the RX-5700 drivers).

Hi, i've never used any custom res at all, ever. First thing I did when I found this issue is wipe using DDU and check what resolutions were showing, all looked normal, i've genuinely chucked everything at this now I'm sure and with dropping in my old 1080p card solving this i'm sure its either the RX5700 or some incompatibilty with my current hardware setup, I just cant find it though.

I'm trying an old PC image again now to see if I missed anythign, i'm wiping AMD drivers with DDU and going right back to lav 072 and MADVR 914 couple with a pre 2020 version of the AMD drivers.

No AMD or Madvr custom res etc, all standard.

Have you tried amdcleanuputility-x64.exe? It removes more than DDU - worth a shot anyway.

ok,. did timings again, these make no sense to me at all, so here I should choose EDID / CTA or pixel clock #1?

ok, i chose pixel clock #1 - it did nothing at all, still shows 1 frame drop over 20+ minutes, i'm lost with this...what could I be doing wrong, could the GPU be trashed?

@oldpainlesskodi.... what audio renderer do you use? Your values look similar to mine, I gave up trying to get perfect timings and instead switched from "direct sound" to WASAPI.

I'm using Directsound as the audio renderer.

Odd, you have the same card (ish), and I get no repeat/dropped frames using the standard amd 23p (after 5-7 mins).

It just goes to show that even 3 computers that are very similar can have vastly different clocks with regards to audio/video.
