How to reduce jagged-edges?

Hi guys,
is there a way to reduce jagged edges like these?

That is probably aliasing from bad inverse telecine. It is possible your source has it, but often this is actually caused by TFM using its postprocessors. If you use TFM, try to give it the parameter PP=1 to see if this goes away.

Unfortunately I don't have the original source anymore so I have to correct this one
I hope it's possibile to partially correct this.

You basically need antialiasing, but it will be an uphill battle because the image lacks resolution and the postprocess has fuzzied and blurred the still very gross aliasing. I doubt the best methods like DAA will work here anymore. And if you get something working, it will ruin other frames a lot.

The solution would have to be something as ugly as warpsharping the source to get something reminiscent of edges, make a mask out of that, and expand it so that it's the general area of the edges instead of the warpsharped mess. Separately you then downscale the source and do some AA magic on it and scale it back up with something nice and smooth like nnedi3 or something - and then you merge the resulting picture using the ~general edge area~ mask you made before to replace what is hopefully the edges.
