Suggestion for a DVD ripper with those requirements
Hi there,
I'm looking for a DVD ripper software with requirements listed bellow, any suggestions ? √ CUDA / GPU support √ multi-core CPU √ dual audio tracks (both in .avi / .mkv file container) √ dual / multi external subtitles √ support for forced subtitles √ xvid/divx/h264/x264 encoding √ (true native x64 version) Last edited by Guest; 1st August 2010 at 17:38. MeGUI can use 64-bit AviSynth, using it requires effort and expertise though.
StaxRip uses 32-bit AviSynth but can use 64-bit x264 with some piping workaround, if 64-bit AviSynth would be a great gain I don't know, also requires effort and expertise but slightly less I believe.

You don't actually want CUDA / GPU support... you just want a Really Fast encoder. x264 will beat any GPU encoder out there at equivalent speed...

I was just doing a fair comparative of several softwares I've tested and my conclusion is that there is no winner atm (they have all pro/cons). I checked in FAQ, I don't see any rules about commercial softwares that cannot be listed & reviewed... -- I said [spam] because there are products doing the whole process (removing protection or region code/ripping/encoding) and called like that... Many softwares like MeGui / Handbrake / RipBot / Staxrip are only encoders GUI... MeGUI is a great encoding tool but I'm looking for a "nice"/quick steps GUI to rip & encode with some advanced options and with no need to install manually 10 softwares/plugins... -- I do want CUDA / GPU support. x264 = an algorithm. CABAC = Context-adaptive binary arithmetic coding I believe x264 encoding with Intel Quad Cores & CUDA / GPU with a NVIDA GFX card can be faster than x264 alone...
