Yes setarip_old, I am trying to decrypt a DVD, with no luck. I've tried full disc and movie only. I get the pop up that reads "Reading/Writing Error Control" then it reads "error while reading! Please choose what to do? The options are, Retry, Abort, Ignore & Ignore all. I choose Ignore all. It seems to work but when I get to 28% of the decrypting it just freezes and holds at 28.65%

@Big Oh
The following thread at another forum appears to indicate that your problem may be a flawed disc containing mastering errors ("exchanged discs, new one works fine"): http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread....82&postcount=1 (Read the entire thread) |

Faulty Master
Quote:
I dont know if this is the same problem you have, but it may be. Some years ago I had a similar probelm with a DVD, it was "Witchfinder General" R2. It played almost ok and jumped round the problem in a player. Backing up was of course a different matter. It would get so far and fail, it failed in a way that I knew it was the disk itself. However, replacing the disk twice did not help. The probelm was exactly the same. The Master from which the disks were produced was in fact faulty. |

If the replacement DVD doesn't suffer from mastering errors, there's always the possibility that your drive (DVDRom or burner) burner is at fault - either needs cleaning or is dying. Two things to try:
1) Use the same drive to rip an original, commercial DVD that you previously successfully on the same system. If it fails in a similar fashion to "TRON-Legacy", then 2) Try cleaning the drive with a DVD/CD cleaning disc. Maxell makes one that sells for about $10US Last edited by setarip_old; 8th April 2011 at 00:49. |

In turn, the storekeeper will return the disc to the vendor, either in exchange for another disc or for a credit to his/her account with the vendor... |

mike20021969 it was exactly as setarip_old said, it was a big box store and I just said it was glitchy in my player and I'm not sure if it was the player or DVD and before I go out and by a new player I'd like to rule out the DVD. There was a little resistance but I was exchanging and not straight out returning.

Mike, they try to break your chops, like they have a choice in the matter, but when I mentioned that at $22.99 they should back their product and if not I'll just do what everyone else does and go to the black market products and then he changed his tone... as I said "not easy" but "little resistance".
setarip_old... this is horrible to say but, the two copies I tried from Best Buy didn't work (I assume they're from the same source) I went to my local Blockbuster and rented and copy and it worked just fine!!! Wow!!! |
