4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Authoring?
Has anyone figured out how to author one of these discs?
Presently, we shoot in DCI 4K with 35mm format cine cameras, and we're stuck authoring in regular old Blu-ray for now. I know 4K UHD BD is HEVC encoded, but the structure of the disc is unknown. Anyone trying to do this yet?

Authoring software are already available to market from Scenarist, Jargon, DVDLogic and Sony but all the pipeline should be updated (HEVC encoder with HDR support, subtitles rendering, menu design and so on).
The structure of the disc should be very similar to standard bluray, at least, using Scenarist, the authoring process is very similar and elder HD projects can be "converted" to UHD projects quite seamlessy. |

Well Scenarist is too expensive for me - I was hoping for some Basic Software like multiAVCHD used to be for BluRay in the beginning or BD Rebuilder's Import Feature today. Anything on that front??
As for HEVC Encoder - we could use x265 for that couldn't we?? |

Out of interest, have any of you guys tried using the 'Blu-ray ISO' or 'Blu-ray Folder' features of TSmuxerGUI (2.6.12) to generate some basic Blu-ray disc's with HEVC video?
It would be interesting to know if such discs were able to work in a standard UHD hardware player Cheers

Indeed it can. I managed to improve 'sync' issues by generating an .mkv contained mux first. And placing the .mkv mux into TSmuxer GUI

Has anyone attempted just encoding a standard BD with 10-bit x264 at 4k resolutions and playing it in an UHD Bluray Player? Seems we may be overthinking the issue (certainly the x265 quality gains would be nice, but might not be as necessary if using VERY slow setting in x264 such as max merange).

At present, I'm using a Oppo BDP203 and a DLNA server. I export h.264 files onto the server and open and play them with the Oppo. I first have to downconvert all my DCI 4K master footage to UHD and then render. That works well. But it would be nice to author a disc.
