Incompatible AVI's from mencoder on PS3 ?

Hello.

I'm having trouble encoding XVID AVI files with mencoder on my Mac and be able to play
them on my PS3 system.

I'm currently using the xvidenc package from (http://xvidenc.sourceforge.net/).

Now, the PS3 system dosn't like any of those AVI files. Just dosn't play them at all.
Tho, if I take the AVI file and regenerate a new AVI from AVIMUX or some other Windows program
it will play just fine. So the encoding must be OKEY ?

I'm curious about the XVID encoding options. Maybe they are confusing ps3 ?

Currently I use these options in mencoder :

Code:
"vqmax=5:me_quality=6:vhq=3:max_bframes=2:bvhq=1:trellis:quant_type=mpeg:chroma_me:chroma_opt:hq_ac:nolumi_mask:closed_gop:noqpel:nogmc:autoaspect"
Dosn't matter if I use DIVX, DX50 or XVID as a Fourcc option.
Also I have changed from nopacked, and to packed bitstream option.

Any success stories with mencoder generated AVI files for PS3 ?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Svavar - Reykjavik - Iceland

If re-muxing fixes your issue, the problem is likely to be either the structure of the AVI container itself (OpenDML versus non-OpenDML), the type of interleaving used in writing the file, or perhaps (because some applications default to one or the other) whether or not your bitstream is "packed".

Also, passing the "-noodml" option to mencoder does not work.
So with OpenDML, and skipping the OpenDML does not work from mencoder.
