Never heard of Parrot Bay rum, until now.

I do not think that you are going to be able to perfectly clean this up, because I really believe that the original MPEG-2 files are not the best encoding possible.

It doesn't really taste like coconuts, it just gives it a nice, sweet, buttery taste and texture, almost like a dessert...

Lathe: The dessert is gritty and sandy. ;-) I love Coconuts but I'm not really into buttery flavors. MAYBE I'll get a bottle since it has been so long and have some...check it.

MrVideo: After looking at the Source a bit more...I think it can be cleaned better but seems to me it would require a bit of by-hand-processing. Which is why it's seen as Hybrid... I'm curious what AutoGK would do with it? It's been a long time since I've used that. As I played the Source I could really see the repeat frames. Seems girlfriend has wondered about that for a while also but just accepted it as "annoying".

BD-RB has done very well with it. Maybe I'll run see about running it through VRD and remove the repeat frames myself? Shouldn't really cause any noticeable out of sync with CC/SRT... For now, I think I'm done unless a new way shows itself.

I do not think you can. The AVISynth filters I used are the best at finding the 2:3 pulldown stuff and removing it. It seems that these videos are not as good as they should be.

What would really be great is if they re-released all of the SG-1 seasons on Blu-ray. But, I'm not holding my breath.

Something is funky..other than the version # which was discussed a while ago. To the 20-somethings...# = number sign, not Hashtag. The original meaning.

Continuing on...

Code:
[Options]
VERSION=0.50.0.24
ENCODER=0
MODE=0
ENCODE_QUALITY=2
ONEPASS_ENCODING=0
AUTO_QUALITY=1
MULTIPROCESS=3
ENABLE_TEST=1
[Paths]
WORKING_PATH=P:\OUTPUT\
SOURCE_PATH=P:\OUTPUT\IMPORTS\STARGATE_SG-1_DVD_SEASONS_1_MKVS_FROM_BD-RB\
Now, import the MKV files that are 720x480 and have SRT's.

Select the MKV's to be imported... A menu shows, "Save and Continue".

Then converting SRT to SUP or anything else does not show...even in the GUI where steps are displays away from progress.

Code:
[21:31:45] Importing: STARGATE_SG-1_DVD_SEASONS_1_MKVS_FROM_BD-RB

The resulting BD should play fine, and SRT's should be converted to SUP ready for display. Not the case. The burned BD-25 didn't display any of the subtitles, even when attempted through remote. Nor though PowerDVD 12. However, navigate to imported Stream (.M2TS)... PGS is possible to enable and displays (Using previously mentioned player).

Maybe I missed something...rechecking...

I believe that you can leave the SRT's alone. BD's will play them as far as I know if they are muxed into the BDMV folder...

Huh? Leave them alone?? BD-RB converts the SRT's to SUP. The SUP is Multiplexed into the M2TS... The Subtitle is disabled, but I'm able to enable it with BD Player and PowerDVD 12 but...they aren't showing. That's why I'm confused. But..they are enable-able with by other Software player when I double click on the M2TS file. So I renamed the BD-RB INI file, and went with Stock thiinking okay I'll start free and let the defaults do their thing. I'll look at it more soon.

You normally convert them to PGS. That happens automatically when they are muxed with TSMUXER. While in theory the standard supports text subtitles, it isn't SRT and it has to be stored out-of-mux -- and frankly I've never actually seen one on a commercial disc. It also says they use "vector-based fonts". That pretty much expresses the extent of my experience with them.

Oh yeah, that's what I meant... PGS... It always LOOKS like those are interchangeable. What I meant primarily is that I THINK that you don't have to convert them to SUP pictures, which takes time, etc. The natural conversion then to PGS should play just fine.

THAT is what I meant

Opps, yeah, I meant PGS also. Doh!

I went back to the previous version 0.53.23 and after the MKVs are imported the Subtitles are displaying after being activated with PowerDVD and logically this should work with my BD Player, so, for follow through...I'll burn the BD and check that.

Hmmm... I think the reasons for the "off-ness" is here..

0.23... They display correctly. I'm thinking it's the differences in -video-width-. The program player (MPC-HC) compensates for it but PowerDVD and LG BG Player don't. Even though the Subtitles show in the list as they should. So, they're displaying off screen...in 0.24...correct?

Code:
MUXOPT --no-pcr-on-video-pid --new-audio-pes --blu-ray --vbr  --custom-chapters=00:00:00.000;00:05:37.754;00:09:15.437;00:11:37.645;00:16:23.532;00:22:23.625;00:26:32.106;00:28:24.451;00:34:34.989;00:38:20.780;00:41:24.364;00:44:50.336;00:48:35.661;00:50:58.304;00:54:22.842;00:59:55.675;01:04:31.284;01:07:47.612;01:10:05.583;01:13:37.296;01:20:13.358;01:26:45.449;01:32:55.019;01:35:43.453;01:36:57.228 --vbv-len=500 --start-time=27000000

idx/sub is the format coming from DVD. Probably converted via BDSup2sub because some players play the DVD subtitles but not the BD ones. BDSup2sub can also convert back from DVD to BD format.
