Does the 10 series encodes support B frames when HEVC encoding? Some reading I saw seems to imply it doesn't.
No
But if compression is to BD25 it is pretty good, your eyes are the final answer on that

Edit
I can take a 2 hour+ (70GB +) movie using AC3 640 Kbps audio to 15 or 16 GB file
The extra bit rate given to the movie should make it good for normal viewing
Advantage is encode in about 30 to 40 minutes with my settings

Picture uality with NVEnc definitely is worse than with software encoding. I did some UHD encoding with DVDFab using CUDA and the resulting video files have much more blocking and compression artefacts, especially in dark Scenes, than compared to encodes with x265. So CUDA/NVEnc is a good thing for testing, but if you care about picture quality I'd always prefer x265, no matter how long encoding takes with it.

X265 is all ENCODING library. Just like x264. It has ZERO impact on quality software encoding or hardware encoding. Hardware only speeds things up. Quality is determined by the level of compression you choose (and in case of cli the switches you select)

CUDA encoding results were not that good,
But NVEnc is not CUDA based, it is VPU based
If your encoding app is still using the CUDA cores for encoding, then yeah, quality wouldn't be that good.
Quality, as Ch2vr0n said, also depends on your settings

I have 2 1050s - a second hand 2 Gb one I recently put into an oldish pc (8 years old) and another 4Gb one in a new gaming laptop - both perform the same. With either DVDFab, or CloneBD, the time for a typical UHD ranges from 20 to 40 mins, depending on the length. For discs of around 60 to 70 Gb, where I tend to lose the ATMOS, compressing to bd-25 produces discs which I struggle to tell the difference from the original. As you get up to 90 to 100 Gb then you do occasionally see artefacts, and I tend to go for bd-50 with the ATMOS.

Strange issue. I'm authoring some Blu-rays that will also contain some 480i videos extracted from a DVD. The problem is that the audio is leading the video by a second. The original files are fine. If I manually run tsmuxer on the MKV file, the audio is correct. But, the m2ts file that BDRB creates has the issue. So, I went looking for the meta file. Very tricky, in that I have to abort the process during the integration stage and not say OK to the dialog, so that the meta file will hang around.

Here is the content of the meta file:
Code:
MUXOPT --no-pcr-on-video-pid --new-audio-pes --blu-ray --vbr --custom-chapters=00:00:00.000;00:07:18.471
     --vbv-len=500 --start-time=27000000
V_MPEG-2,"E:\BD-REBUILDER\WORK\TEMPIMPORT\Video.track_1.MPV", fps=29.97
A_AC3,"E:\BD-REBUILDER\WORK\TEMPIMPORT\Audio.track_2.AC3", timeshift= -1mn 5s, lang=eng
The plot thickens. For some reason there is that large audio timeshift, yet the actual shift is 1 sec. The audio should not be shifted at all. The H.264 MKV 1080p files are just fine.

As a test, I removed the timeshift and ran the BDRB tsmuxer using the modified meta file and all was well.

What do I have to do to stop the audio shift?

Yeah, Tried with Ghostbusters (the original one), The results are awful, even using BD-50 as a target size. Software encoding with x265 is way better but more time consuming.

Software encoding------->Hardware encoding.

ET movie with CloneBD and hardware acceleration enabled. 7(CUDA and Highest quality).
The bitrate at 29.37mbps, and after 40 minutes ... job done.
I'm happy with my MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4G OC GPU.

I can't agree with that. There are a number of reasons why X265 will encode better.

I was hoping this week -- but I've run into another problem. I've found that, while now in sync, my full-film backups are running into halt-and-resume problems at about the halfway point (on at least one film). I think it may be related to the muxing.

I would have been happy if it had worked so fast, but it doesn´t matter for me to wait a bit longer for such a good software. You really set the bar high for it with BDrebuilder

Fixed: Audio Issue

Got it working, but not sure why. To get around the issue, I took the TS file and made a new MKV file, with the audio delayed 1 sec. The result: the 1 sec delay stayed. So, I tried the original MKV file and again got the 1 sec advancement.

In frustration, I took the TS file and remade the MKV file, without any delay and all was well (the meta file had a 4ms shift). I made the original MKV file with an older VideoReDo and the new MKV with a newer version.

No idea what BDRB was looking at in the MKV file to cause the original problem, even though the file plays via VLC, and VRD, without any audio issues.

The delay would only be added if MEDIAINFO told BD-RB it existed.

That begs the question, if the audio delay is -1mn 5s, why did it actually become 1 sec?

Something tells me that the library that VRD used had a bug and put in a delay value that was actually wrong. Using VLC, the files played without any kind of sync error.

I'm redoing all of the files with a later version of VRD.

Interesting problem.

Just out of curiosity -- do you get different results from a newer version of MEDIAINFO?
