Best guess is that the MKV is corrupt. I'm importing MKVs with no issues.

@AmigaFuture

It looks like the reencoded file "VID_00276_2.AVS.264" is never being created, even though the log shows time for the reencoding. I'll have to look at it.

Apparently this error happens only with the files containing embedded pgs subtitles.
I will do more tests ...

I'll run some MKVs with PGS through. Are the input and output picture sizes the same on your tests?

No. Input = 1080 and 720p and output = DVD and AVCHD/BD5/720p.
Speaking of the type pgs subtitles, the BDRB in import mode does not accept this type of subtitles, correct?

Yes, it supports import of PGS streams from MKV. If you look at the MKV with MEDIAINFO the codec id should say "S_HDMV/PGS"

BD-RB will also import subtitles of the type SRT.

[Edit] As a test I just imported an MKV which has PGS subtitles. No problem.

I do not know what's going on....
This support mkv with pgs subtitles also applies to generate dvd's?
I've done many AVCHD discs and DVD's from the mkv files with srt subtitles embedded type, no problem, all right.
But tried a few times to generate a dvd from mkv files with embedded pgs subtitles but the result is always DVD without subtitles.
I will do more tests to a better definition of what is happening...

Thanks!

Mmmm, I can't recall which title or when, but I SWEAR I had a same/similar problem a while back :S

I generally don't complain about MKV input problems though, because the program is mostly aimed at BD → (name your format). I guess I probably should have posted though. It technically was a bug... :S

Ok. I'm confused. You said you that BD-RB was failing when it tried to import PGS subtitles from an MKV. So that's what I tested. Now it appears you're reporting something different.

There really shouldn't be any problem outputting the PGS subtitles to DVD -- as they would be no different than regular BD subtitles after they're imported, but I'll test that tomorrow.

That's what I noticed, too. After a few tries.

Update: Using internal LAVF, single and 2-pass the test process completes without error, unless I don't delete the previous Output directory. Then this error is produced: "CopyDirStructure() 00075 1200". Otherwise, if deleted after starting process..all goes well.

Shame to you and your family name! Joking. I haven't imported any DVDs and made MKV's from them in a while, but that does remind me to revisit a bug when MKVs ARE involved, but not meaning they're causing it. I'll check that soon.

Jdobbs, ok I should have been clearer and previously reported also the problem of subtitles on dvd.
I tried to import 11 mkv files and 4 of them gave me that error message that I reported. The files are similar, so do not know what is causing this error.
But the conversion to DVD from mkv with subtitles pgs the error comes after they are properly converted to idx/sub, at the time of integration to vob container.

I have a job running now. I'll let you know how it turns out.

As of right now, though, I'm still leaning toward corrupt sources. Do you know what muxing software was used to create the MKV files? There's not much I can do for a source that has issues before hitting BD-RB. The MKV sources I'm using for testing are all created by BD-RB. That way I know they are properly formatted.

Just as a test, you might try remuxing one of the sources that failed to import with MKVMERGE before attempting import.

Interesting. I'll have to try that next time. Sometimes, a corrupt source fed to X264/lavf, won't fail when fed to DGDecNV. Recently, I had an out of sync MKV from a BD source. I suspect it was an old rip from my iHES108. It caused a few bad rips THey didn't appear bad, but when reencoded, they had minor problems. This time though, DGDecNV was able to correct whatever the problem was

I used to label which drive ripped a BD. But It's quite possible that I missed a few...

Well, the corrupt source theory is out the window. I was able to repeat the issue. Now I'll have to scan through the code and find out what's going on.

Clarification: I can still import from the MKV with no issues. But I can repeat the issue encountered when converting to DVD.

Ok. I still have to test it, but I think I have it. It appears the DTS values are lost in the conversion to MKV. I just had to adjust my code to account for that.

You should see it fixed in the next release.

I hardly use BDRB to import mkv files with the type pgs subtitles type to generate a DVD or a Blu-ray / avchd. But it is good to work properly, and the BDRB/HCenc/x264 is one of the few to do this kind of conversion with quality!
