Firmware for Philips Dvp5500s/02 standalone

Hello. I was wondering if someone knows where I can find firmware upgrades for my Dvd/Divx standalone player. It has Mediatek MT1389EE chipset, I only found one on Philips home page that didn't offer much. I was thinking more of a custom firmware because I've heard from a friend that while he was searching for firmware for his player, se saw some upgrades for Yamada players with this chipset that with firmware hacks, player could play Xvid files with custom matrices. Does anyone know if this is real?

It's extremely rare that a standalone receives a new firmware, unless there's a sound reason (real big problems, new legal requirements etc.), you know, someone has to be paid to do this.
