Super 2006

I haven't seen this program mentioned anywhere here, so I figured I should post about it. Here's some info:

SUPER Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer.
A GUI to ffmpeg, mencoder, mplayer, x264, ffmpeg2theora & the theora/vorbis RealProducer plugIn.

If you need a simple, yet very efficient tool to convert (encode) or play any Multimedia file, without reading manuals or spending long hours training, then SUPER is all you need. It is a Multimedia Encoder and a Multimedia Player, easy-to-use with 1 simple click.

Input Video format: 3gp/3g2(Nokia,Siemens,Sony,Ericsson) asf, avi (DivX,H263,H263+,H264,Xvid,MPEG4,MSmpeg4 etc..), fli, flc, flv (used in Flash), mpg (Mpeg I,Mpeg II), mov(H263,H263+,H264,MPEG4 etc..), mp4(H263,H263+,H264,MPEG4), ogg, qt, rm, str (Play Station), swf (Flash), viv, vob, wmv

Input Audio format: ac3, amr, mp2, mp3, mp4, ogg, ra, wma

While installing it lets you pick from the following languages: English, Greek, Danish, German, Russian, Czech, Spanish, French, Croatian, Icelandic, Italian, Hungarian, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Serbian, Finnish, Swedish, and Turkish.

This is currently just called "build 13." I haven't had a chance to test out this application yet, but will try to do so soon.

I was able to access the site. The program is a 16MB program. Pretty large. It seems to do a lot.

I'm going to try to use it later.

x264 is external as well as the bundeled softs. The GUI can be closed source and payware if it's not using GNU source code.

I'm not keen on the way it phones home every time it's run (in fact it fails to run on my system and I'm certainly not giving it unrestricted net access just to check it out).

The x264 version that's bundled with it is svn-341: a bit out-of-date, but it's easy for a user to fix that. Does anyone know what it uses to encode AAC?

last time I downladed a version of SUPER (couple of weeks ago), I could only choose the bitrate among a list of predefined wierd values (I might be confusing with another app though ...)

*will try it again in a near future*

tried it, didnt like it. sticking with MeGUI.

Super does not provide any sort of % status bars. I have no way of knowing where am I at in my encodes in case I need to break one off and dont know how much longer I am looking at.

Also this isnt primarily a x264 encoding front end but more of converter for all kind of files for people who cant be bothered to understand a dozen of programs and parameters just to convert a mpg/vob to avi or mp4 for use in mobile devices etc.

I don't know if i'd use it for my dvd to avi or vice versa, but it is great for encoding videos for your phone. I've been messing around with it and I am very pleased with the quality. Plus it gives me a simple way to encode xvid in a 3gp container without having to deal with mp4box myself. My only problem with it limits you to the preset options. If they implement some more advanced options, or at least give you the option to enter your own values it will be perfect.

SUPER installer runs a bit of horrible "SlamWare" apps while installing... be very careful what options you choose, you need to deny all of it apart from the actual SUPER install programs.
Lucky for me, Kasperski blocks that shit from the very start.
Apart from this, the program is very good for a freebe! I managed to convert a bunch of .MKV with DTS back to AC3 muti-track, to play in MPG encoding for my JVC head unit, all off USB with no real issues. Its a very capable trans-coder front end, I used it within minutes before looking for some of the more obscure settings options.

Does anyone else use this thing apart from me? is it any good? seems fine to me so far and does a truck load... just interested, maybe there are better options??
it's now SUPER 2015 not 2006 so been in active development for quite some time.

I don't know how SUPER 2015 work, but old versions install a AviSynth version than can destroy any other soft (AviSynth based) installed in your PC.

Be careful, not recommended.
