Speed limit features?

Does anyone know of any other software that do the speed limit when encoding besides VirtualDub? I need this feature because my laptop is often overheating when encoding...

Set its priority a bit lower and you're done.

Priority and speed are two different things. Hence VirtualDub having a separate setting for each.

I'm not aware of any other GUI which lets you adjust the encoding speed. It doesn't mean one doesn't exist, but I don't recall seeing such an option in any other encoding GUI I've used.

If your laptop is overheating, you want a throttle-control program for the CPU, not a "speed limiter" for applications. Try ThrottleStop or similar.

If your laptop is overheating, you may need to clean the dust out of the fans. Really, this can make a huge difference!

And if the laptop is still overheating (and you still have warranty), then you should contact the support...
