Hi all,
Having an issue with .ass subs in Mediaportal 1.18 using madvr 92.12 and the mpc-hc subtitle renderer. They don't display at all, but .srt are working. However .srt are not working if they are muxed in with a file that also includes .ass subs - it's like subtitles are broken completely when a .ass sub is present. Rolling back to madvr 92.11 and the .ass subs start showing again. Any ideas? Thanks in advance |

@dslectrode: If you don't want to wait you can try the MediaPortalSetup_1.19_madVR_Master.zip build you can find in the first post of this thread: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/t...in-mp1.133972/
It's based on MP 1.19 final that is due to be released soon, and at least on my system it works with madVR 0.92.12 (I watched a movie with ass subs recently and it was working)

By 'video playback' do you mean hardware decode?
HD610 can decode everything including VP9 10-bit (i.e. YouTube HDR) HD7850 is limited to H.264/AVC and it can't even do that format in 4K.

el Filou, no, I mean how powerful it is in scaling. I'm satisfied with HD7850 (except that it can't decode UHD) so I want to use it as the comparison basis.

Shame that DXVA Checker cannot use madVR, it would be fun to have some kind of benchmark mode to compare the processing times of scaling methods on different GPUs/systems.

I still cannot believe that madVR is free (at least for now). It's the most epic renderer in existence with nothing comparable. I am kind of concerned about it because, for example, EVGA practically stole MSI AB code for its own EVGA Precision X, just like NVidia practically stole one ReShade shader FX code for its own tools (forgot the name, something cinematic, I think). Neither company has admitted these "unethical acquisitions" of free software and has given original authors 0 credit, not even a mention. It would a shame if the same thing happened to madVR, which is why you should call my office immediately! Dial 1-8... - J/K .

How do I get my display to always use 12bit when at 24hz, but 8 bit when at 60hz? I've gone into my NVIDIA drivers, selected 24hz/12bit, and then I can swap back and forth between 60hz/24hz and it remembers the setting correctly. However, soon as I restart it forgets and starts using 24hz/8bit again.
Another question... Setting MadVR to automatically enable 3D when playing 3D content doesn't seem to work. The checkbox in NVIDIA drivers is still unchecked and there's no 3D. If I manually check the NVIDIA 3D box before watching a 3D movie, then I get 3D. Any way to fix? Last edited by tyrindor; 20th March 2018 at 00:10. |

The driver is broken for bit depth selection. It breaks on reboot. Nvidia should be made aware of this.
For 3D, did you try full screen exclusive mode? Some Nvidia users swear it’s necessary for 3D playback. I don’t think it’s a prerequisite. I don’t use 3D.

I have same problem on bit depth selection on nvidia. Used to work fine upto 385.28 I think.
For 3D, you can create a profile with the 3D rule, which runs a batch file to enable nvidia 3D on startup of the profile. The batch file was posted on this forum a while back I believe. To automatically disable, I use the disable batch file on the non 3D profile startup. The main command to enable is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /enable |
