Is it possible to make a "DisplayPort 1.4a" connection

No, not without an active adapter. DisplayPort and HDMI are not signal compatible.
There are active adapters, but they are somewhat expensive.

DP 2.1 or even 2.0 (pretty much the same anyway)
maybe able to do passive HDMI 2.1 at the moment DP 1.4 can only do HDMI 2.0 passive. so the DP spec can already do HDMI encoding and voltage. AMD already support DP 2.1 on there current GPUs which a limited bandwidth i don't care enough to check. not sure where HDMI 2.1 in DP would matter on a DP 2.1 card which has HDMI 2.1 anyway. |
