how do you calculate bitrate filesize in ripbot? I see where it lets you put in locksize but where does it tell you the bitrate?

n/m It's in the dropdown next to the 2 pass mode (have to change to 2 pass from CQ).

no help for me as it does not calculate for True-hd only ac3 640 bit...also when i import truehd tracks it gives me a floating point error.

I decided to try RB Builder for the first (was 20.2). I used The Dark Knight that has caused me so much problems with ripbot. The end results are perfect doing movie only with AC3 5.1 and subtitles. I can rewind and fast forward and best of all the audio is in sync. I never got that with ripbot 1.13.0 -1.13.3. Also, it was considerably faster -

BD-B
1st pass - 14 hours
2nd pass - 44 hours

Ripbot
1st pass - 24 hours
2nd pass - 70 hours

Holy Cow--- what processor/OS/RAM cfg ??
iam Q6600 (2.4Ghz)/Vista 32bit/4gigs DRAM2 PC8500

i get encodes RipBot:
8-12hrs for 8.5gig BD9
14-20hrs for 25gig BD-R

when i did RockNrolla -> BD9
w/ BD-Rebuilder v20.02 at High Quality (default) = 7.33hrs
Quality setting is probably lower than RipBot

edit.

That is 1080p. If I use 720p then in takes about 8 hours 1st pass and 22 hours for 2nd pass.

I'm going to repost my original question as I got no answer from anyone.....if there is something wrong with this question, please tell me what's wrong with it, or direct me to the correct place for this question. I appreciate it.

Hello. I'm new to the forum here and new to ripbot. I've been using ripbot to make some BD5s for ps3 and bluray standalones using the bluray option in ripbot. I take a 720p mkv file, load it in, set lock size to 4450, use two-pass, level 4.0, try always to keep the video bitrate over 4,000 for 720 BD5s. The question I have is, is there a Dummy's Guide for optimum settings for ripbot while making BD5 and BD9 movies? I've searched the forum here and can't seem to find any newbie guide to using ripbot. Here are the settings I currently use that a friend told me to use, but could I tweak these settings even more? I'm not sure what each setting does. Again, I'm a newbie to x264 encoding, treat me gentle...

@TRONDROM

This provides perfect Quality and is fully Compliant for "Standalone AVCHD" . Use it with CRF(CQ) 18-21 ,or 2pass VBR = 720p Bitrate 4.5-7Mbps ,1080p 8-12Mbps

--level 4.1 --keyint 24 --min-keyint 2 --aud --nal-hrd --vbv-bufsize 16500 --vbv-maxrate 16500 --filter -1,-1 --ref 4 --mixed-refs --bframes 3 --b-adapt 2 --weightb --direct auto --subme 8 --trellis 1 --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8 --8x8dct --ipratio 1.1 --pbratio 1.1 --me umh --threads auto --thread-input --mvrange 511 --sar 1:1 --progress --no-psnr --no-ssim

This is for Bluray Disc Encoding :

--level 4.1 --keyint 24 --min-keyint 2 --aud --nal-hrd --vbv-bufsize 40000 --vbv-maxrate 40000 --filter -3,-3 --ref 4 --mixed-refs --bframes 3 --b-adapt 2 --weightb --direct auto --subme 8 --trellis 1 --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8 --8x8dct --ipratio 1.1 --pbratio 1.1 --me umh --threads auto --thread-input --mvrange 511 --sar 1:1 --progress --no-psnr --no-ssim

You can create a Ripbot Profile (Folder C:\Ripbot/Profiles) when you save it into a .txt File.

One more question :
Why does Ripbot open Mpeg2/AVC TS /M2TS Files not with DGIndex/DGAVC ? Ripbot always opens TS/M2TS with a Directshow Decoder ?
Or is the indexing the next Step after the File is open in Ripbot?

DGavcDec has to use old version of libavcodec due to some regressions made in later builds. However latest libavcodec in ffdshow (directshowsource) has no problem with interlaced material (AVCHD camcorders use MBAFF or something like that. I've forgotten)

Indexing in general is useful only when you need frame accurate access.

hello i have a feature request/suggestion for the author of ripbot

would it be possible for you to add an option that allows us to name the audio and video streams

currently it only says GPAC ISO Audio Handler
when you could name it something like English 5.1 AAC 320Kbps

thanks

Thanks, nwg. I guess I could just demux the individual movie streams, and I am certainly not complaining about Atak's system because it is great for those pesky BDs that have the main movie spread among multiple streams I just like RipBot so much better than Handbrake.

Nice post.
Which one would I chose to encode a BR to MKV (m2ts -> ts -> mkv) with autocrop enabled? I'd love to have a good quality using an average bitrate of 10000 kbis/s for the video.
What would I check or uncheck on settings screen?
I am a bit confused with all the possibilities there.
File will be played on a popcorn hour or western digital hd tv media player.

And any idea how long a job would take with this config:

Q6600 @ Stock
5GB RAM
Windows Server 2008 Enterprise 64Bit
1TB Samsung HDD and 250GB Samsung HDD.

Another question: Does selecting CQ result in a singlepass encoding or is it 2 pass aswell?

The last few encodes I've tried have froze up right at about 97% on the 2nd pass...I get an error message that states:

avs2yuv.exe has stopped working

I've installed v1.13.3 & trying to encode a h.264 .ts file (to Blu-ray, BD9 size) ripped from my cable box using the Hauppage HD PVR...I'm using Windows 7 64-bit on a i7 Quad Core w/6GB of RAM...I've never had this problem before & was unsure what to do...has anyone seen this?

never seen this, but then again, I'm not running a beta ( and as yet unproven ) OS.. it runs just fine in XP

I've encoded about 200 movies to 1080p using RipBot (generally, as soon as a new version has come out I'll update it) & have well over a 90% success rate...occasionally, I have had a few issues...I have seen some problems w/rips from my cable box using version 1.13.0 & 1.13.2...for those, I usually use 1.12.0 & they come out fine...figured I would try the newer version w/those rips & see what happened...today, I actually got one to finish (even though I got the avs2yuv.exe has stopped working message at around 97% completion of pass 2) it started muxing & then finished...I briefly checked it before going to work & it looked good...very strange...I am unsure about the avs2yuv.exe utility or what exactly it does

This is weird...

I have tryed to use both 1.12 & 1.13.3 but when I start the job, ripbot start muxing and then tell me the job is done. But no file is produced. What is going on, and how can I fix this?

remove any codec packs first.

go back to scratch and remove hali, ffdshow, and avisynth .

then reinstall avisynth and ffdshow, latest versions.

see how that goes.

I had this before when x264 would crash yet ripbot didnt realise and just thought it had finished...

Hi

I don't have any codec pack's installed at all, so I will try to reinstall the one you mentioned. I just find it odd that this happend.

By the way, the x264 app that is in the tools folder of the RipBot folder, is it OK to replace them with a newer version or will that cause any problems?
