Explorer: No video preview icons only for some video types

My Windows Explorer shows video previews as icons only for specific file types (e.g. *.mov and *.m2ts), but not for others (e.g. *.mp4 or *.webm); they display icons from the MPC-HC icon set instead.

Do you know how to discover why, and even possibly how to change it?

Nice; it claims to enable it for MP4 at least (I guess I need to relog or at least restart explorer.exe to confirm, but that will have to wait for a while).

Unfortunately, WebM is among the types it doesn't want to enable, and expects me to install K-Lite to be able. I would prefer to avoid that. IMHO, using LAV Filters should be sufficient to give DirectShow access to such types, is it not sufficient for the Explorer thumbnailer plugin? Hmm. I can live with a few lacks.

You need a shell extension for thumbnails. K-Lite uses Icaros. That is also available separately:

No, it is not developed by Shark007. It is made by Xanashi. He doesn't have his own website.

Then ... "provided" or "hosted", okay. At least it works nicely.
