Brilliant! Just given it a very quick test and I'm liking the thumbs per row option, HC options and overscan display lines - good work! I'll give it a full test later....

Wow! Your feedback are as fast as light! Btw, please download again the 080722 build, because the first upload was partially broken.

My full test went well and found no obvious issues so far - good work! So hopefully the next job is to add new menu features :-)

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, very next steps will be: a better Editor GUI, locking labels properties (change one -> change all), anchoring labels to thumbs, motion menu (only thumbs). Then: drag&drop, templates saving and text only menus.

A few more small usability thoughts. Could you add that double clicking on a title opens the edit title options and could the average bitrate for all videos be shown in the status bar (so you can quickly see if you've added too much video data)? Also, can you change the encoding options for all titles at once?

Yes. Btw, have you tried to right-click on it?

Not sure: to look at video bitrate, you have only to open 'Edit Title' form. Status bar is already so crowded...

Very hard. Titles could be very different (aspect ratio, video/audio retaining, subs). Changing one option for all means to create a complex control routine to check every title... sorry, sometimes I am very lazy....

I'm using the latest Noinstall beta, I changed the SubtitleCreator profile xml document in the Subtitlecreator data folder[Font-Tahoma to Verdana, size 18 to 16, bold to regular. I also slightly altered the subtitle position] Unfortunately nothing appears to have changed in the output dvd, the subtitle size seems the same. I have used this method to change the profiles when using FAVC & have had no issues. Do I need to do something else to change the profile when using AVStoDVD. On a more upbeat note thanks for so quickly incorporating the HCenc advanced options into AVStoDVD.

Thanks in advance.

You just did what it is needed...
The only reason that comes to my mind is that there are 8 profiles:
  • AVStoDVD PAL 4:3 Full-D1
  • AVStoDVD PAL 4:3 Half-D1
  • AVStoDVD PAL 16:9 Full-D1
  • AVStoDVD PAL 16:9 Half-D1
  • AVStoDVD NTSC 4:3 Full-D1
  • AVStoDVD NTSC 4:3 Half-D1
  • AVStoDVD NTSC 16:9 Full-D1
  • AVStoDVD NTSC 16:9 Half-D1
Are you sure you have edited the right one?

Ah, you did not setup hard-encoded sub, did you?

Here is a copy of my edited profile:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>

<Profile Name="AVStoDVD PAL 16:9">

<LineHeight Value="100" />
<Formatting Lines="2" Wrap="True" VerticalAlignment="3" VerticalFont="False" />
</Profile>
</Profiles>

I have just tried another encode & the subs are still the same, they have not changed to my selection(Pal 16:9). Also the subtitle settings I have deleted from the profile are still shown in Sub Creators profile list? On my first attempt I only edited the pal 16:9 full D1 entry, & obviously that didn't work either. Even if I change the 'Distance To Top Border' setting the subs do not move. The settings are the same as I have set in FAVC, but for some reason they appear higher up, more towards the centre of the screen when encoded using AVStoDVD. The subs are selectable not hard encoded.

Thanks in advance.

please do not alter so much the profiles.xml file that comes with AVStoDVD! You have removed 4 profiles. AVStoDVD needs to have all above 8 profiles when calling SubtitlesCreator.

This is the original profiles.xml:

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<!--Profiles for SubtitleCreator v2.1.0 RC5

Note:
This file exists in two locations: the program's data folder (for first-time users),
and in the local Application folder (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\John Doe\Application Data\SubtitleCreator\), which is used by default.-->
<Profiles>

The only values I changed originally were:

<Profile Name="AVStoDVD PAL 16:9 Full-D1">
<Font Name="Verdana" Size="16" Style="Regular" Outline="5" />
<Window DistanceToLeftBorder="80" DistanceToTopBorder="450" Width="560" />

I left every thing else as it was, I edited nothing except that shown.
This had no effect on the output it stayed the same, as did the version I last submitted, which also stayed the same. When I edit the xml profile it is having no effect on the output, it is staying the same as it was? Could it somehow be deferring to the default setting?

Thanks in advance.

Check if you have a profile.xml file in your "c:\documents and settings\youruser\Application Data\SubtitleCreator" folder. If you have, that one overrides the profile.xml file in "c:\program files\avstodvd\SubtitleCreator\data", so you have either to delete the first one or to edit it.

Btw, to test if changing font settings has effect, use font and size "very" different from the default: Verdana 16pt is not much different from Tahoma 18pt...

I have no profile.xml in AppData folder and I tried with Times New Roman 10pt and it works as now as when I implemented subs routine in AVStoDVD.

I'm using the Noinstall version so I have no folder in App Data, I'm going to delete the folder I have AVS installed in, clean the reg, & extract afresh. I'll then edit the xml file as discussed & do an encoding. I will report the result tomorrow.

Thanks for the interest MrC

AVStoDVD does not put any files in the User AppData folder by itself. Instead SubtitleCreator, when used to modify profiles by its GUI, do create a *secondary* profiles.xml in the AppData folder.

So please, after cleaning, be sure you do have only the *primary* profiles.xml in "c:\program files\avstodvd\SubtitleCreator\data" and no *secondary*profiles.xml "C:\Documents and Settings\youruser\Local Settings\Application Data\SubtitleCreator" (in previous message I posted the wrong path: there is also "\Local Settings\")

That was it, once I had edited that file also, the subs were as I wanted, thanks again MrC. I also used the menu creation for the first time using 3 titles, the result was great. One request! could you add png files to the list of usable image files. I tend to use these for background menu image as it is the default of vlc player & to me seems better than jpg.

Thanks in advance.
