There is a bug reversion using encode xvid with avi. If you move it to "slower" setting and save settings, close program and then reopen the setting is always showing "balanced" instead of slower.

I've just downloaded the latest full package (06/10/2010) and have been unable to get this version (v6.1571.319) to open most VOB files, some MPG files and all .d2v project files from DGIndex. With .d2v project files it keeps saying there was some problem analyzing the file and that it will try a different demuxer, but then gives an error that it couldn't detect the number of frames so adds 9999 as a fake value. The few VOB files it has loaded have all had the wrong running time and frame count under the summery tab.

Previous version/package opens them all without problems.

File size

Hi ,

I'm having trouble converting to a specific file size with 2 Pass at 1750 bitrate

The supposed file size should be around 1400mb but I alway end up between 784mb and 850mb.

I tried different settings and always the same result
It is not just AUTOMEN because I'm having the same issue with HDConvertToX.

My source is a MKV file
my output is a Xvid AVI

I even try to put a freaking high bitrate like 4000kbps and I end up with an average of 1576kbps with a 1gb file.

Thx

Every time I try to use this on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, it says handbrake crashes.
If I try XVID, then it says mencoder crashed. I cannot encode with any format.
Any word on when it will be compatible with Windows 7?

I'm just trying version 7 (7.690.1580) but after 42 minutes it's still analysing the file I'm trying to open in it. With previous versions it takes seconds to analyse and open the very same file.

The main GUI has 'Not Responding' in the title bar but the CPU usage is about 40% and there is a 'deleteme.avi' being created in the program directory, so is it supposed to be taking this long or has it crashed? If this is normal for this version there is no way I’m going to wait this long each time I want to convert a file, and this is only a half hour long file I’m trying to load. What will it be for a full movie.

Update: Over an hour now and it's still creating this 'deleteme.avi' file which is nearly 60MB in size. What's it doing? Version 6 didn't do this.

This is from MediaInfo for the deleteme.avi file still being created. The file I'm opening is a half hour MPEG-2 file at 720x576 so I don't know why it's upscaled it to 1280x720.

Complete name : C:\Downloads\Automen_v7_full\deleteme.avi
Format : AVI
Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave
File size : 58.0 MiB
Writing application : Lavf53.13.0

Video
ID : 0
Format : MPEG-4 Visual
Codec ID : FMP4
Width : 1 280 pixels
Height : 720 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate : 25.000 fps
Color space : YUV
Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0
Compression mode : Lossy

It's finally finished analysing the file but none of the info in the summary is correct. It says the file is 1280x720 and 41 minutes long but it is in fact 720x576 and 25 minutes long.
