Gordian Knot subtitle problem

Hey all just a lil problem, im able to add subtitles that i have ripped from dvd (so a .sub + idx) to the film about going to convert. But if i download an edited subtitle file in the form of an .srt, the subtitle section on Gordian that allows you to select srt files is grayed out and im unable to even browse for one. Any ideas?!

Im realising that your unable to add srts to avi containers, hmmm, anyway to edit text in a .sub file? Basically in atonement when speaking in french the subs are all in english bar the last one, instead of saying my name is briony she says je m'appelle briony. I just want to edit so it says my name is...

After loading the video press control F8 to bring up the subtitle selector. But really what you need to do is convert the idx sub that you have ripped from your DVD to srt format. Then you can edit the text using Subtitle Workshop or even Notepad if you are very careful not to add any more characters that are on a line.

Downloading subtitles is a breach of copyright and probably wouldn't work anyway depending on frame rates etc.
