OK, I never encountered a driver bug before, but here we are.
RTX 3090 -> Denon X2800H -> LG 65C2 On any driver higher than 546.65, Atmos passthrough is fucked when playing 2160p23 at 12 bits. By fucked I mean no sound at all or a blip of sound every 10 seconds. The AVR display switches back and forth between Atmos and DD+. There's clearly something wrong with the signal. Same issue with different players (MPC BE/HC, VLC, Jriver), different renderers (madvr, MPC Video Renderer, JRVR, whatever VLC uses). One time I even rebooted Windows and everything nvidia related had disappeared (like, no NVCP in right click menu on the dektop, no system tray icon) Same problem with hotfix driver above. 8 bits works, And, weirdly, 60 Hz / 12 bits with passthrough works too. I probably should try more combinations (HDR/SDR, 1080p, etc.) but since 546.65 work perfectly fine, first thing that comes in mind is a driver issue. And that sucks, because I use the very same PC to play games and can't afford to NOT update my drivers for latest games... Anyone ever seen this or heard of it?

That scares me even more. I'll have time to play later this week. I'm working on rewatching House of the Dragon and want Dolby Vision for that so no HTPC. But I have some movies to catch up on this weekend so I'll see if that HD Audio driver helps or hurts ATMOS playback...

I tried the 551.46 hotfix driver, but unfortunately, it didn't help with my issues. I'm still experiencing stutters and microstutters across the board, whether I'm watching videos, movies, or playing games. It's especially noticeable when I'm playing online here, where the stuttering makes it quite frustrating. Anyone else still having similar problems even with the latest driver update?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I’m like SamuriHL, my HTPC isn’t dedicated to HTPC use, it’s also used for video editing and gaming. I need to be able to update the OS and drivers, I can’t “freeze” the system in a working state (if that ever happens).
Also, I frequently read issues with AMD as well, so I’m not sure it would resolve the problem and I’m not keen to spend £700+ and hours of tuning to find out that I also have issues with AMD in my rig, even if it’s not the same ones. I used to have nVidia for best compatibility with madVR, but I’m using mostly JRVR with jRiver, so that’s not my priority anymore. I also have moved to a flat panel, and it’s unlikely I’ll ever move back to projection. With 1,000nits peak, there is no real need for dynamic tonemapping with the vast majority of content mastered at 1,000nits displayed perfectly at 1:1, so I use HDR passthrough and static tonemapping and even with the occasional high nits titles, I get decent results. I also need DV and HDR10+ support, which are still not supported (at least with jRiver, I’m not interested in the complex alternative solutions) on a HTPC, so I’m happy with network playback on my Oppo 203 clone and Dune using the MyMovies app on iOS as a front-end. HTPC is now a secondary source, that I mainly use to watch 1080p TV Series and a 3D LUT with JRVR. I’d love to be able to use it as a primary source for SDR content and HDR10 titles, and I’m going to try 546.65 as it seems to be working better, but it’s not the end of the world if I can’t. I love the predictability of non-HTPC sources, even if I lose WOL for my NAS boxes and automatic control for my Vera lights, and if I have to use my iPhone or iPad to select the title I want to watch.

It's off-topic here so I'll PM you, but I'm curious about which device you're using. The main downside of the Dune is the absence of FEL with DV (it only processes the RPU instead of falling back to HDR10). No such issue with the Oppo, but it's a bear with network playback, much less reliable than the Dune that's rock solid.
I made some progress today with the HTPC though because I installed 546.65 and I was able to resolve my frame drop issues with madVR, both in SDR and HDR. I still have frame drops with jRiver in HDR passthrough, it's an issue that comes and goes according to the nVidia drivers and there is nothing Hendrik can do about it. I also have lots of glitches with madVR if I use 119/120p (which I'm trying at the moment to resolve a motion issue with my Samsung). If anyone has any idea how to resolve this (glitches at 4K120 with madVR), please let me know, but it doesn't seem to have any impact on image fluidity (I still have no frame drops/repeats).
