Here's a bit of info about the company that makes these chip-sets: -

Liteon LVD 2010 is sigma 8550
Trans-Gear DVX 500e is sigma 8550

the only diff between these two machines is the badge and the firmware
they can't play QPEL encoded data, and are only STD def

USLOGIC 49$ player sold here in the US by Compusa stores uses Sunplus cheapset. I own one of these players. The brightspot of the player is its extremely smooth ff and rw through a divx/xvid file....it is the same as on a regular dvd, not your typical choppy rr/ff but a very smooth one. Otherwise it plays pretty much the same files that my Philips DVP642 (ESS VIBRATTO chip) plays.

My NeuNeo 308 player (Amlogic 3288 chipset) seems to be the most capable of all my players playing the most challenging files.

Hi!

If that is the same chipset as my Philips DVP 642/37, you may have to do the following:

For discs with .AVIs and SEPARATE subtitle files, the subtitles files MUST be named:

"Divx-subtitle 1.srt"
"Divx-subtitle 2.srt"
etc.

Acceptable subttile formats are .srt, .smi, .sub...

setarip_old thanks for the advice, but i allready treid that
i used nero for writing cds and i named the files 1.avi and 1.srt
the subtitle file is in correct format, no errors or wicked characters
i tried also the sub format
but in the menu there is ONLY the avi file showed
i used the buttons on the remote before an while playing the movie and still doesn't work
i search for an update but there is none, only the "official" one but it didn't work with that also
there is an update for that chip but other player mercury 3873
but a friend of mine who had also a clatronic used and the player remains in stand by, it doesn't eject the disc anymore and the remote is not responding
i'm sorry for my english and hope to hear good news

To eject the disc, you could try the following (without using the remote control): -

"Switch off" player (at the player).
Press and hold down the players "eject button".
"Switch on" the player.
After a few seconds the players CD tray might open. If it does, release the "eject button".

The above does not work for all players.

Cheers

The subtitle filenames I posted are NOT examples, they are literal. Even if your movie file is named "PolarExpress.AVI", name the subtitle file "Divx-subtitle 1.srt"

I know this is a "stretch" as KiSS's DP-600 is still being delayed but...
Any ingo on the upcoming DP-700? From some CES interviews it seems be a powerful beast and will read h264 (if it ever comes out!

That is just dumb Why don't they fix their firmware to support de-facto naming standards? Like:

Movie.avi
Movie.srt

...or even better:
Movie.avi
Movie.English.srt
Movie.Swedish.srt

:(

hi,

sorry i didn't post in a while,
but there is no good news about the subtitles on clatronic.

i tried a little soft SRT2BMP that converts avi files in divx files whit subtitles in it.
on divx player for windows it worked fine, when i turned on the subtitles it was ok, but on clatronic the file didn't play.

i tried the "Divx-subtitle 1.srt" and "Divx-subtitle 2.srt" literal, but still no result.
i didn't make the update from the official site but someone else did and still no result.
i'm begining to think of buying a new one.

thanks a lot all of you, and if you think of another way to test please tell me, i'll do my best and i still hope that someday it will work.

Sorry to hear that. I guess it's not the same chipset as the Philips DVP 642/37...

do you know what chipset the
seg dvh 480x
uses? i found out it doesnt like vbr mp3. and with cbr 160 kbps mp3 it frequently interrupts audio playback (but that may be of using autogk quality based mode). manufacturer:

Thanks for keeping us updated Max

With having support for DVD-A and SACD audio the Vaddis 888 provides very similar features to MediaTek's MT1389xx chip-set...

I was hoping that by now, more manufacturers would have given us chip-sets offering high-def MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 file input and EtherNet connectivity support....

Shame to have/see Sigma having this corner of the market to themselves!

Cheers
