and so has the level from 3.0 to 3.1. I did as mmmmdonut did and got the
same results. Only I used independents day.

I don't think ATV was meant to play 30fps @ 720p.
Over at the handbrake site there was a quick post about x264 dev's stating it was bad idea to use small vbv buf size. Now the profile Atak put together has always been good and through the numerous encodes I have only exceeded the 5000 buffer size once. I dont think bumping the buffer size up to say 10000 and leaving max at 12000 or moving it to 14000 would hurt anything.

As for 3.1 vs 3.0 there is zero difference there. Using 3.1 just cleans up the log files since it raises the bit rate limit.

I do like in the new profile the bump in ref frames. Also new is --aud --nal-hrd which I'm not sure what that setting does as I havent researched it yet. I know I've seen folks talk about it before in the PS3 profile.

@krazdkiller - While I dont see anything wrong with pathing other than the really long path to ripbot, try the following from command line

change your working directory to tools\mkvtoolnix. Then run the following: mkvmerge.exe -o "C:\Users\KrazdKiller\Desktop\Julie & Julia.mkv" --title "Julie & Julia" --default-duration 0:24000/1001fps -d 0 -A -S "C:\temp\RipBot264temp\video.264" --language 0:und --sync 0:0 -a 0 -D -S "C:\temp\RipBot264temp\job1\audio.mp3"

You might want to verify that c:\temp\ripbot264temp\video.264 and c:\temp\ripbot264temp\job1\audio.mp3 exist prior to.

My guess is the error "The system cannot find the path specified" is when it calls mkvmerge. Running the command by hand will help you narrow down where the problem is.

so how do i go about changing the working directory? i have RipBot264\Tools but no "mkvtoolnix"

i created the folder structures on c, and i created the mkvtoolnix folder. i am not finding mkvmerge.exe. i have checked both f and c.

redownload the package back on page one. When you extract it you should see a mkvtoolnix directory under tools. Since you are missing this one tool you might want to compare what you just downloaded versus what you have loaded on your machine.

Atak_Snajpera, upload a new ripbot installer that downloads and installs all the required files / programs. i have installed it and it looks like i have everything you have mentioned so far. i am now attempting another conversion. be done in about 13 minutes.

EDIT:

Downloading and installing the latest installer did the trick. I have my movie sitting on my desktop now. Thanks for the help. I know basically what messed me up in the first place. That was installing the Divx Plus Codec pack so i could have MKV thumbnails. Now I know in the future that i deal with k-lite first, Divx Codecs second, and then RipBot264. Thanks again for the help.

P.S.

Ripbot is a great program. I have tried WonderShare, but you have to go into the setting for each video you want to convert and make sure that it does not change the aspect ratio. I have tried Total Video Converter, and it decreases the quality. RipBot264 is just set it and forget it. The amount of space I am able to save using MKV's versus AVI's, and the video is the same quality or better is fantastic.

So I am doing 2-pass encodes, and my first pass CPU utilization varies wildly. Right now, I am doing another encode of Avatar (forgot subtitles), and my first pass is running at 45fps, but it's only using 45% of the CPU. The CPU is an i7 920 @4.2GHz w/HT on. On 2nd pass, it is darn near 100% utilization, but I read/heard that the problem could be that ffdshow can't decode it as fast as x264 is trying to sample it?

Any help is appreciated!

Have some questions here,

I've tried this 1.15.1 ver. there're some minor things and I'm wonder whether there'll be update. First of all, i'm dealing some files with Chinese filenames, and GUI doesn't recognize CHN.ts files but does for CHN.mpg files. second is that, even it can work with the CHN.mpg files, after done with setting, I click OK. when it returns to the job lists, the CHN filenames with become miscoded and unreadable. I remember the previous version doesn't have this same problem. Can you please do some minor update to fix the language issue? Thanks a lot, I really love this simple but powerful tool!

About VC1 decoding in Ripbot

Hello there.

@atak

Long time since my last question. Remember what was the problem? The VC1 sources "moving around" with the audio synch, sometimes more, sometimes less (but always miliseconds, enough to notice that the audio comes first, then the picture of the action). The last thing you told was to use anydvd instead of makemkv, so I'd let ripbot all the process.

I did it, and it wasn't possible until last night to check it, well, I checked, and it goes the same. So the problem isn't in the MKV or ripped files. It has to be in the directshow system, 'cause now, in addition to those mini-synch problems, I have a couple of "scratches" (blockiness) in the movie (in fact, when one of those scratches occurs, the picture freezes for a milisecond, maybe its the cause of all of this)

The point being, ffdshow seems to have a problem in my system decoding vc1 streams, as it would skip some frames sometimes, or not decoding it that good, then it could be the reason.

I think I didnt had any problem before, in windows XP, but in windows 7 I havent managed to make one good conversion from a warner bluray.

Any advice? thanks in advance.

Hi guys
I've downloaded a vid ripped from .VOB -> .MKV. It's quite good but I dunno how to do it
Btw, this is the command line
Quote:
cabac=1 / ref=9 / deblock=1:-2:-2 / analyse=0x3:0x133 / me=umh / subme=7 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.0:0.0 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=1 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=3 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / mbaff=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=9 / b_pyramid=0 / b_adapt=1 / b_bias=0 / direct=1 / wpredb=0 / wpredp=2 / keyint=300 / keyint_min=30 / scenecut=40 / rc_lookahead=40 / rc=2pass / mbtree=1 / bitrate=2292 / ratetol=1.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=10 / qpmax=51 / qpstep=4 / cplxblur=20.0 / qblur=0.5 / vbv_maxrate=30000 / vbv_bufsize=30000 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=1:1.00
Anyone understands this? And how to adjust this in RipBot?

Grr, there's no such thing is 'got-over-with-problems' when it comes to encoding/converting I have a new problem. I have everything working but somehow it will not continue to encode. For example I queued a lot of videos in the RipBot but it'll do only the first one or two then skips the rest. See this example. I have K-Lite and everything was working. I don't know what messed up my baby RipBot
