keep black bars or crop?

probably been asked before but couldnt find a specific scenario.

anyway i usually use ripbot264 to make an mkv of an original bluray rip.

the bluray is usually 1920x1080p and normally i would just leave it at that. but some films are 2.35:1 so black border.

should i use crop to remove them and thus gain slightly more bit rate per pixel?

for 1080p i normally fix it to 7.92gb 2 pass and use dts core.

for 2160p i use 23.1gb 2 pass dts or ac3 core.

ive noticed most rips ive seen elsewhere crop the black border.

i usually use a PC and 1080p projector or my 4k hdr android TV to watch.

Why not simply keep the Blu-ray discs original video stream? Large capacity HDD's are cheap enough these days!
