Please delete my account
Hi!
I registered my account some time ago with the name goldfish II. As that´s a weird name I wanted to change it to RSE, but I found no link to change the username. So I wanted to be clever, created a second account with the name RSE wanting to delete goldfish II later. Now I can´t find a link to even delete my account . I searched the FAQ and the Forums and the only thing I found was another request to delete an account. Why isn´t there a link in User CP for account deletion? So, please delete my account goldfish II manually. Thanks! RSE |

if you had actually read the forum rules, you would have noticed rule 14) which states:

I know. That´s why I explained WHY I registered 2 Accounts. And I never used both at same time to confuse others or whatever. I just wanted to not make you that much trouble. But how can I get deleted my account now? Is anyone out there who can do that? Or what is the "normal" way to get an account deleted? Please tell me what I have to do.

why can't people pick a nick and stick with it? I'm about to introduce a $5 charge for nick changes and fully enforce rule14 in all cases.

Can't they all use the same registration? Isn't the memory shared?

It was in relation to some passwords, many websites have had this issue. Deleting the account now will serve no purpose. At least the site was honest of the leak, I'm sure many others have been affected in the past and just swept it under the rug. As long as you don't use the same password for everything, and you changed it on other sites where the same username and password are used, you will be okay.

Honest? Well, apparently they didn't even know. And still don't know how the leak happened. I can understand if some people want to delete their data. But maybe deleting your personal messages and changing your password and e-mail (to some trash mail) yourself serves the same purpose.

Assuming the worst.. if you follow best practice and don't re-use passwords, all that could be gotten is information that you can also buy legally.. IP addresses and Emails are the currently of Facebooks and Googles of this world. Not that this would be acceptable, but it's not the end of the world either. And as I stated in the other thread, we're going to take action and upgrade, and probably rebuild the server just to be safe.
