It's already happened to the first, hopefully not to the rest

I thought I'd be the oldest (Truman was president when I was born), but I see there are quite a few who are older.

I haven't done any programming using roman numerals, like Giles, however. You have to be really old to have used that stuff. However, I do occasionally find myself looking for the punch cards and paper tape to enter my programs, so some of my skills are pretty archaic.

I do not remember if Julius Caesar was president when I was born.
But whether you are young or old, the main thing is to be passionate.
Just like you, John, and all those who give their knowledge on this forum.
Thanks again.

[ EDIT: how did the exams go(thesis or whatever that thing is) ? OK ?]
it takes time and shitload of work to get a PhD offer from a top tier grad school (I aint telling either lol) in north America (wait a sec, that actually gives away the location cuz u don't go to mexico for education and u don't ever refer to the US as "north America").

Stainless, that line really shows your age!! Most of these young whippersnappers probably don't know who sang that song or what famous cartoon character covered it.

It does indeed!
I had no idea what that was about either until I googled it:

Quote:
"Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby is a 1944 Louis Jordan song, released as the B-side of a single with "G.I. Jive". "Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby" reached #1 on the US folk/country charts. The song appeared in the Tom and Jerry cartoon Solid Serenade and sung by Ira Woods as Tom Cat on the cello."
I mean... 1944? Not only I wasn't even born, but my parents weren't either! (My mother was born in 1964).
You could potentially be my grandpa! XD
And I gotta say that I didn't expect that giving how active you are as encoder here on doom9 and how many things you do (including all the plugins you make).

Click on the "1" in population count in the 30s row. [EDIT: And see post #22]

EDIT: And the version of the song I was referencing was by Louis Armstrong, ie the great Satchmo.
[Satchmo apparently refers to 'satchel mouth', because of his very large mouth.]
