regarding that issue with unknown audio tracks
maybe what is unknown is the biterate not the language and thus triggering the 2/3

also i found an other bug

since i switched to 5.7 from 5.1 last week i am experiencing a ton of fails
on average about 1 movie fails every day so thats like 1 in 10 movies.it seems random and mostly those movies encode fine if i restore them. will do some more tests and try some earlier versions but i am afraid that either the front end or the new handbrake core might have memory leaks somewhere. will do more tests and get back

also some requests
is it possible to add in completed tab the time and qrf?

it would be amazing if it was possible to add a thumbnail of a screenshot of current frame encoded or just take a screenshot every 10sec 30sec intervals so it can help identify whether this is a scene with lots of action or not

for instance some secs are dark scenes and u see the encoder jump at 40fps some times there is alot of movement or water so encoder goes down to 5fps

The "thumbnail as you encode" would need to be exposed by the HandBrake core. I don't have any visibility into that.

The crash bug is something I've seen others report and I'll update the HandBrake core in the next release and see if they've fixed it.

Will make a note about QRF in the completed tab... sounds like I would have to add the column picker for that one too.

@napouser: could you encode a small clip of the problematic file (using passthrough for the problematic audio/subs) and share it, along with your %appdata%\VidCoder-Beta\VidCoder.sqlite file? Also tell which picker is selected. I think that would help me reproduce the problem.

Released VidCoder 5.9 Beta:
  • Added ability to import SSA subtitles.
  • Added ability to automatically select chapter ranges with the Picker.
  • Updated HandBrake core.
  • When an encoding preset is chosen by a picker, we now correctly disable changing the encoding preset from the ribbon.
  • If "Keep failed files" is enabled, it is now possible to right click on a completed item and open the containing folder to see the failed file.
  • Changed to allow decimals in the target size field.
  • Fixed preset getting marked as modified when switching to a preset with a different container.
  • Fixed long launch time caused by hanging registry watch setup for the Windows theme.
  • Fixed Queue Multiple Titles not respecting the "output to source directory if possible" config setting.
  • Fixed crash due to negative padding. Changed to log an error with sizing details when this happens.

suggestion

for failed items u may wonna add something more powerfull like start the name with ##warningfailed## or change the extension to .failed or something similar becauze if people encoding movies with 100 tags in them like blabla.2018.Repack.1080p.BluRay.DD+5.1.x264-SbR.failed. mkv there is danger that noone will actually notice the fail

I got the source file but wasn't able to get the odd behavior you showed in your screenshot. Sharing the .sqlite with picker, etc might help reproduce it.

np happy to help

about that thing i asked u some months ago
to add to the encode details window an option to show "estimated target size" ?

for instance now i am at 2.37gb at 81.6%
the estimate will be ~2900 and usually goes +-10% of that

any hope to get that?
i literally pull /calc about 20 times per day for the last 2 months!

Sorry, I don't want to implement a feature where I have no idea how close it would actually be depending on multiple factors out of my control.

Hi,

sorry for the late reply. I tested again with the latest beta and couldn't exhibit the issue any longer. Everything was working as expected again.

regarding the multiprocess feature the program has
its nice to have the ability to encode multiple items at the same time but when u encode movies for 2 hours having 4 of them at the same time doesnt help with anything

it would be nice however to have the ability to temporary start encoding the 2nd item in queue basically engage in a multiproccess mode just for 1 item

that could be helpfull in a scenario where i dunno a movie is encoding already at 50% and u dont wanna cansel it but u wanna test something or encode something smaller in the meantime

the problem i imagine to implement such thing would be how to trigger the 2nd item while the 1st item is running since multiple items are triggered only when the 1st item finishes

What do you mean by "the buffer of the program"?

the memory used to cashe reading data for encoding . if its high enough (1gb+) the program can keep encoding no matter how many minutes the disc is occupied

It might be an advanced setting to pass to x264 or x265. Other than that I wouldn't be able to add such a capability.
