In DivX 6, what is the difference between 1st pass and 1st pass (fast)?

When doing multipass encoding, what is the difference between 1st pass and 1st pass (fast)?

And why are the encoding presets grayed out when 1st pass (fast) is chosen?

1st pass (fast) is faster.

When something is grayed out, it means you cannot select it.

Hope that helps.

Usually spending more time on an encode makes it better. Hard to quantify without a lot more information. You can try it both ways and see which you like.
