MPC homecine choppy video
I have a old crappy pc that has trouble playing HD (wmv) vids on my PC. Basically the video & audio are choppy. Is there anyway I can set mpc or ffdshow to dial down the processing of the video so its not choppy. I don't mind if the video quality is degraded, I just don't wanna have to re-encode the vids or buy a video card to watch them. So far I've went into ffdshow to adjust set to skip deblocking at 350ms & set drop framedelay to 1000. The video is near smooth but the audio is still very choppy. Any help or suggestions are very appreciated.

The audio is choppy with both windows decoder & ffdshow audio decoder. With ffdshow, I set the supported output to only 16 bit integer as it directs for slower PCs.
After some testing, I think the audio is fine, its the video still using too much processing power and bottlenecking the audio decoder. I think I've hit a wall here unless theres something else I can do to lower the video decoder's processioning needs. |

You're probably out of luck.
I'm surprised the Windows VC-1 decoder can't handle things. I'd suggest updating to Windows Media Player 11, as this will give you the latest VC-1 decoder, which should be the fastest possible. If this isn't enough, you're either going to have to re-encode to some other format, or buy a video card with DXVA. Oh- what OS are you running? ~MiSfit
