Do we still need to change in nvidia cp to YCbCr 4:2:2 10bit or 12bit for best HDR in the player like potplayer? or just enable OS HDR vs NV HDR? what is the best course?

Don't use Win10 HDR...
As far as I know, RGB full and make sure MadVR is setup to pass thru HDR meta data to the TV

I have a GTX 1050 with latest NVIDIA drivers and a LG C9.
All video types work perfectly with MadVR except HDR.
I just get a black screen.

Windows 10 HDR is disabled, Nvidia is set to 8Bit RGB Full. MadVR is at default settings (except for 2160p23, 2160p24, 2160p25, 2160p29, 2160p30, 2160p50, 2160p59, 2160p60)
I've tried many combinations of HDR pass-through, bit depth, windowed/exclusive mode, present 0 to many frames in advance.
Nothing seems to fix it.

With HDR 4K, I get either no, or a few frames, showing the OSD (with times looking perfect). Audio continues fine.
Help appreciated!

Check rendering settings...
I've seen similar issues with my 960 with windows overlay, full screen exclusive, desktop comp, etc. settings...
Try turning all this off

This, as far as I know, is something you gotta live with... My set up is exactly the same. When I sit down for a program, I watch the program. Jumping in and out of full screen to do other stuff on the PC just isn't a great experience. Lol
If I use 60Hz playback, then "movie" profile is disabled, as is a lot of the "expert settings" on my Samsung TV.

So, who's running dual, mixed video cards?
I'm retiring my desktop PC with R9 280 AMD card and gonna test it in my HTPC with GTX 960...
Apparently this works with DX12

madVR won't be able to use both at the same time.

Are you thinking of this?

Could this method help Nvidia users to get more accurate 23 Hz timings out of the box?
And perhaps can then the madVR image processing be done in the Nvidia card and Framepacked 3D be sent over an AMD card or perhaps an Intel iGPU which lots of users also have already in their HTPC.
Just an idea, but perhaps it is helpful ...
I can not test this, since I don't have an Intel iGPU anymore to test. But you have two drivers which can bring you in trouble if it works at all. If anyone is interested here, let me know if it actually works.
Perhaps better in AMD, Intel and Nvidia driver issues and last recommended version, since it is more a driver thing and this thread is already to big to find anything, at least for me it is very dificult.

Yeah... I just used latest drivers for both... I didn't bother testing further.

Device manager left out the R9... Wouldn't let it play

so I'm using multiple monitors and trying to optimize madVR and I am trying to use windowed overlay, but every time I start browsing the web while a movie is playing it will jump out of windowed overlay and start showing the the bottom of my taskbar. I have the to hide when not in use, but I can see the green from mpc-hc playing. Any ways to fix this?

Does anybody else have issues with frame smoothing where the credit crawl at the end of movies flickers?

You mean smooth motion?

Is that with HDR?

I do also get excessive flickering during scrolling credits with HDR content when outputting 59/60 Hz with smooth motion enabled, SDR is fine.

I've already mentioned this quite some time ago...

(I posted another thread about this asking how to use the same renderer as Windows Movies & TV in PotPlayer, but I'm posting this also because if I can fix my color problem I'd love to still be able to use MadVR.)

When I use PotPlayer with MadVR to play 10-bit 4K UHD mkv videos, there's significant banding and color problems. Here's an example:

When I play the same file with Windows 10's Movies & TV player it looks perfect to my eyes:

Here are my settings in MadVR:

How do I get HDR->SDR to look "perfect" like in Windows 10 Movies & TV?

Have you tried just passing meta data thru? Using pixle shades and nit variable makes a big difference in how the image is displayed.

So, installed MSI Afterburner over clocking utility... With a bit of voltage, core, fan and memory tweaking, I can use various NGU chroma upscaling profiles (depending on the bitrate of 4K media) on my trusty old GTX 960, which is also vendor overclocked.

Was previously using jinc upscaling... But from what I've read, NGU is preferred...?
