More "bad news" larrsz, in that my system is happily churning-away at a DVD-5 right now. In WORKFILES is placed an HC.INI file, and I can open the encoder window and see it marching through the frames.
Does BD-RB even generate the HC.INI file before the "encoder" error? As for a guide, it's no more complicated than I stated a few posts ago. One final thought: try BD_Rebuilder dir at the C:\ (root dir) level. Otherwise my log looks just like yours, so I think your settings are probably correct: Code:

Also, as laserfan suggested, place this entire unzipped folder in C:\. Then try running the BD_Rebuilder.exe from there. Do not make any manual edits to the configuration file, only run BD-RB and make selections from within it's GUI. |

As for your recommendation -- unless he is really familiar with HCEncoder I wouldn't recommend trying to do it manually. If he does he should use the HC INI file generated by BD-RB. |

I made no changes to it at all and ran inspect- recieved all "OKs" I then ran it as administrator just to be sure and tried again with the same result. so, as jdobbs said, it must be my system. If anyone can think of anything else, let me know- otherwise, it still works great at what I originally downloaded it for and certainly worth the donation I made several times over. I have other programs to make DVDs. No worries- and thanks for all those trying to help. I am still thinking it is some kind of rights issue with HCenc but who knows? After all , it IS Vista. |

@jdobbs:
Not sure if it is possible, but this program has moved so far ahead that I think it needs its own forum section rather than one long thread. My issue alone took so many posts it could easily be its own thred. And again I appologize for the number of posts for something that is apparently only my issue. Just a suggestion. |

I have not seen any resolution discussed on this issue. I have done somewhere between 70-80 backups (I am in the S's) and the only problem I have had in many months is a failure in Phase 2 with a "unable to build file structure" error. In the past I have always just pressed the "backup" button and let it restart phase 2 and 90% of the time it will just continue and complete. But, with 37.05 the restart comes up with a dialog box that says the path is not empty and asks if I want to delete. If I click NO, it aborts, and if I click YES, it starts over from the beginning. I have made no changes to any settings...just left everything alone and pressed the Backup button. Thanks...

I suspect you are right. Sorry you can't get it working--the idea did/does make so much sense i.e. "making DVDs from myBD-9 backups vs. the originals" given the backups are very (much) higher quality than the intended conversion-to-DVD, yet their size is half to a fourth that of an original BD program. Oughta make a DVD in a much shorter time period than using the original.

Problem with Alternate Movie-Only Output mode
Great software; have performed scores of successful rebuilds to BD. However, as I have a media client now I would prefer mkv output.
On 3 different discs while trying to create mkv files I'm getting the same error: failure to re-encode the video. Strangely, if I then change the output mode to Movie Only, it works perfectly. Note that all other settings remain completely unchanged. This is a log file showing 3 attempts on one of the discs:
-----------------------This is the CONFIG file as at the last attempt: [Options]Any thoughts? Regards. Last edited by Lexman; 23rd February 2011 at 19:20. Reason: Attachment removed |

v0.37.05 fails
First - fantastic software. I have been using it since v.0.34.04 and LOVE it. I have made a donation as well.
I just downloaded v0.37.05 and it fails on the movie 2012 (ripped with anydv to hard drive). I tried falling back to v.37.04 and it works perfectly on the same rip. I'm not sure what you need me to post but judging from the other threads here's: Log: ----------------------- [18:17:08] BD Rebuilder v0.37.05 (beta) - Source: 2012 - Input BD size: 35.22 GB - Approximate total content: [02:37:49.459] - Windows Version: 5.2 [3790] - MOVIE-ONLY/ALTERNATE OUTPUT mode enabled - Mode: MKV Container, 1920x1080, 640Kbs DD5.1 - Audio Settings: AC3=1 DTS=1 HD=0 Kbs=640 [18:17:08] PHASE ONE, Encoding - [18:17:08] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00740] - [18:50:49] Reencoding: VID_00740 (1 of 1) - [18:50:49] Collecting video information - Source Video: MPEG-4 (AVC), 1920x1080 - Rate/Length: 23.976fps, 227,040 frames - Bitrate: 1,941 Kbs - [18:50:49] Reencoding: VID_00740, Pass 1 of 2 - Encode failed. Has anyone copied Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix ? I have copied Harry Potter 1 - 4 with no problems.
when I go to open the file on my hardrive I get "Selected source is not BD format" That is in movie only mode. Now if I put it in full backup it opens, but shows over 5 hours of time?? If I try to run it it says "Target to small" to 25 gb disc. I don't get it! I re ripped it to the hardrive 3 times, that didnt work, AnyDVD HD 6.7.8.0 went and got a new disc same thing. BDinfo shows 2hrs 18 min, and it will play in TmT 3 Looking for any ideas ? Thanks |

Hi all,
Just did a full backup of Fantasia (Region A) commercial BD. I burned it to a 9 gig DVD+R DL. When I try to play it in my LG BD390, it refused to play it because it was "the wrong region". It plays fine on TMT. I have made a couple of dozen movie-only AVCHD disc and they have all played fine (does AVCHD even have regions?) Has anyone else had this problem? I tried searching for region and 'wrong region' but nothing was applicable. I am using ANYDVD to rip and IMGburn to burn. Is there some setting that I need to make to set the region? Thanks. I'll just add some additional choices to the playlist selection (add the angle to the end of the selection). Last edited by jdobbs; 24th February 2011 at 18:02. |

Sorry for the slow responses... I was working on my rooftop internet connection a few days ago, and the ladder collapsed when I started to come down - broke some bones along with and my pride. I've been hobbling around on crutches... and my will-to-work hasn't been at its highest level.

Very sorry to hear of the mishap, I hope for a fast recovery from the fall. I can only hope that you have a good medical plan cause such a fall around here can set you back about 25k. I have to ask if the "rooftop internet connection" was satellite internet? I had always thiought that the upload had too much lag to be worth it, did they finally fix that? At any rate hope you get well quickly and I will send a dination to help defray the "exorbitantly high hidden cost" of your internet service. thanks again for all the hardwork, worknstiff
