BD Rebuilder doesn't like languages other than english

Hi, since the first time I am using this wonderful application (thanks, jdobbs!) it is not very friendly to languages other than english. That means, even though I have selected german and english in the setup, languages to keep, BD Rebuilder always is keeping english language only and discarding german language, so I have to activate german language manually before encode (and, believe me, for the BD 'Cars' this takes some minutes...) Nevertheless, up to version 3406 I think, I could do it this way, but since I upgraded to version 3407 and 3601, german audio tracks are completely ignored, even when I have selected them manually. All the other stuff (menus, legal warnings, and so on) is in german language, but it's not possible to chose german audio track in the language menu, it feels as if the german language tracks all have been removed.

BD is 'Cars', region 'B', ripped with DVD Fab versions 8005 up to 8032.

Any ideas what this could be?

Thanks for the awesome application.
1. I've removed the target size log line when outputting to DVD.

2. I'll review the output size calculator. It should be outputting 4.20GB.

3. You can add "SHOW_ENCODER=1" to the INI file to show HC Encoder.

It treats all languages exactly the same and the exact same code is executed for all. The difference is probably that there are two different ISO codes in use for German (DEU and GER) -- make sure you select both ot them in SETUP.

Also -- make sure the tracks are actually still there after ripping.

Thanks for the dvd output option. I did a few runs using dvd5 output and got sizes consistent with the other poster's note. In the range 4.0 to 4.06 GB as shown by Explorer. I did one with dvd9 output and got a folder size about 5.2 GB for a 90 minute film. The results all looked good. No audio sync or other issues. On one run I burned in forced subs using the avs filter options. All came out fine. The conversions all completed on my quad within the run time of the films. Which is great. Thanks again.

The 5.2GB DVD-9 output is due to the maximum video bitrate limitations of DVD. I use an average bitrate of no more than 8500 Kbs and a maximum (peak) rate of 9000 Kbs to ensure there is room for audio and VBR adjustment. 90 minutes isn't long enough to fill a DVD-9.

I'm not sure why the DVD-5 size is so small. I must be calculating something wrong.

Yes, you can use DTS core -- assuming you're not attempting to write to BD-5 or 9 and have Strict AVCHD selected (contrary to what some well-intended but less-informed folks might say -- DTS is not AVCHD compliant). Read the audio information post in the Frequently Asked Questions sticky for specifics.

Well, after several attempts I've decided the problem has to be on your end somewhere. Maybe your playback CODEC? I did several discs, the lastest being "Toy Story 3", and can't repeat the issue. They all work perfectly on my standalone player.

Hi jdobbs, thanks for your advice.

You where absolutely right, shame on me, I didn't notice the second ISO code in setup.

I am an absolute newbie in terms of blu ray, how can I do this?

Anyways, I will run a new encode with the new setup and see what will happen.
Many thanks again.

jdobbs,
not sure what changed 36.01 but something has changed for the worse, I have tried 36.01 on two movies dvd5 and dvd9 on both movies neither play on my panasonic player where they have all played up to version 35.01. I did them both over with 35.01 and they work fine using 35.01. Not sure if the logs will help you let me know if I can send them to you.

Thanks,
Shuttle99

There was no change that could affect that except possibly the X264 update. Almost all the updates were to ALTERNATE output (which is a different module). I guess you could try v36.01 with the old X264 version. Are you sure you're using the same settings on both (especially the "Strict AVCHD" setting)?

thanks, so un tick keep hd audio and tick dont convert dts to ac3 and im good to go? dts hdma on tv shows is over kill imo and the fact that there is normally a ton of video on each disc then i think its worth the audio hit for some video bitrate

I don't use and have never used the "strict AVCHD for BD-5/9" since you have incorporated USE X264's internal LAVF I have benn using that and it has been working flawlessly. I will copy over the x264 from 35.01 to 36.01 and run another tonight and try it in the morning and let you know. I opened the settings window in each version so I made sure I had them the same since they have been working great.

I'm just taking a shot in the dark but I notice in the log it shows 640 kbit for audio even though the actual output is 448 dvd compliant ac3. That may skew it a bit undersized if the calc is assuming 640 kbit.

I think I'd adjusted for that -- but I'll check it. Thanks.

Yes, and if your output is DVD-5/9, also uncheck "Strict AVCHD".

jdobbs, I copied over the x264 from 35.01 to 36.01 and tried it again and it did not work. I am trying it again with strict AVCHD on and will let you know how that goes when it is done. They do play normal on the computer but the panasonic player does not like some thing that has changed in 36.01. I did notice a new file in the 36.01 tools directory HCencoder.exe not sure if it is being used in 36.01 and is causing it not to play?

Thanks,
Shuttle99

BD Rebuilder doesn't like languages other than english

Quote:
Anyways, I will run a new encode with the new setup and see what will happen.
Encode is finished, and it is perfect! So I come to the conclusion that there must have been some changes in the code which latterly prevent BD Rebuilder from taking a language into consideration if this language is not selected in the setup. Shouldn't it be possible to override the settings from the setup manually? In earlier versions it worked this way, but not in the latest versions (I tried three or four times). Maybe this is a phenomenon limited to german language which has two ISO codes, but, as already mentioned, it worked in earlier versions.
