input filter help

just quick question, i have been encoding my library to h265 10 bit.
both uhd and non uhd blu rays.
the one thing still eluding me is the the avisynth vs vapoursynth input filters.
have tried a couple of them and do not seem to affect video quality.
both ffms2 and ffvideosource.

could someone give a quick description on what they are doing?
would one or the other be appropriate for my needs more so than the other?
I am not resizing.
lastly are the default settings for x265 fairly good? i am unsure of what a lot of the selections do so they are left alone other than selecting -hdr when appropriate.
thank you

AviSynth and Vapoursynth both have powerful filters for any number of purposes. Denoising is a common use case.
