Can I ask why?

BTW, no problems with FSE with SDR or HDR with 397.40 (on 1803 build 17134.5)

Freeze when is full screen mode. FYI, 397.40 is r396 branch, whereas 397.91 is r397.

Ok. I know which branch 397.40 is based on - all I can say is re HDR to try it out.

As far as I can tell, both are based on r396:

https://www.anandtech.com/show/12685...a-rtx-and-more

But, 397.40 is a bit ahead of the curve I believe ( I could of course me mistaken):

I don't have HDR. I'm not sure why FSE mode is freezing. Every driver can produce different results.

P.S. I'm using 17134.1 so this might be the reason behind.

Just installed the windows 10 spring update.

When I enable the Windows HDR toggle and then play a SDR video it works fine in windowed mode but as soon as I enter fullscreen windowed mode my
TV switches from HDR to SDR even though the windows HDR toggle is still active and madVR still says 'OS HDR'.
This always happens no matter whether I set madVR to passthrough hdr, let madVR decide or send metadata on /off.

Another issue with Windows HDR: When playing HDR videos, the picture starts flashing whenever I move my mouse cursor, as if it was trying to switch between HDR/SDR or something like that. This also only happens in fullscreen windowed, windowed is fine.

It's like madVR is messing with Windows HDR whenever I switch from windowed to fullscreen windowed.

Is there any way to completely disable HDR within madVR so that it doesn't mess with Windows HDR?
I tried nvidia driver 397.31 and 397.40, same behavior with both.

Now why would I even want to use Windows HDR? First it would avoid the switching between SDR and HDR, that is if Windows does a good job of SDR -> HDR conversion, which I am not sure yet.
Second, Windows HDR doesn't make the user interface blindingly bright like NV HDR does.

@x7007 Could you please only capture (with Snipping Tool) the part of the screen with useful content instead of the whole screen showing mostly white background? It's much more comfortable when reading the thread. Thanks.

how to export MadVR settings and color saturation

HI ,

I looked at page 1 , googled and looked at Asmodian's help page , but I

can't find how to save or export my settings...

Took me approx 2 months of tinkering and reading a lot to get where I am and I'd really like to save these settings for safe guarding

(I did export MPC-BE 's settings , but this doesn't include MadVR , right? ryrynz & Asmodian we're spo kind to provide me with 2 settings files , medium and high and these files are named: settings.bin, but in the MadVR installation folder I don't see a settings.bin file. If I put one of these there , they do work, so how can I save / export my settings ?)

2nd question, I have a gtx1060 , 1700 AMD with 16 gigs and an 55' 4K OLED , in regards to image enhancement, are values over 1.0 too much ?

3th I would like over staturate colors , like Netflix does, where should I start to tinker with the settings ?

Many thanks in advance , absolutely love (and somethings hate) MadVR ;-) and enjoy reading this thread daily

KR, Sven

I'm having a weird problem after updating to win 1803 and the latest madvr. My mouse cursor has completely disappeared during fse which prevents me from using the seek bar during playback. Has anyone else experienced this?

Odd, all three of those modes work well for me, process with a 3DLUT works perfectly and process with pixel shaders works fine too.

I still think this statement is relevant:

No, I still get a mouse cursor with 1803 and FSE, also using Zoom Player.

Please read the rest of the text around where you got my settings.bin file:

I collected all of the links I have into one post at another forum. Anyone curious can find them here. I may upload some more from my collection when I have time, but I don't intend to create a database or anything. Just an introduction to madVR's features. It's also very time consuming to create these images on my own.

Image Gallery of madVR Image Processing Settings

Note: Not all images display obvious differences between algorithms. The ones shown do. That's just the nature of how each algorithm works. The same would apply to actual content.

I'm sure many people here have seen them already, as the majority were originally posted by madshi.

Edit: Moved to Doom9. No sense in keeping it in the Kodi forums when Kodi doesn't officially support madVR.

Yes, but I think you misunderstood me ... you wrote there : madVR's settings can be backed up or shared via a settings.bin file.

But I would like to know how to do that. Backup my own settings

TIA, Sven

If you install madVR in a folder with write access--for example, "c:\madvr"--the program itself will create/update the settings.bin file in that folder whenever you make a change to the settings. Otherwise, the settings are stored in the registry.

To make a backup, change any setting and save it. Then change it back again and save it. Now you'll have your backup. You can copy the settings.bin file somewhere else if you want.

You need to place madVR somewhere where it has write access. Not in Program Files.
