Need external 4K picture slideshow player for 4K TV set with idiotic firmware

There is a 4K TV set: Sony KD-49X8005C. It can play a variety of videos from an attached USB stick. But it is unable to play an album of JPEG images in a loop. Copying the files with several different names does not help, it detects them as copy and plays only unique pictures only once. Altering the copies with a sequence of EXIF record time stamps did not work well either. And the worst: When the album has been played once, Sony advertizing is played.

So I hope there are media players which can also play slideshows of a picture album directory via HDMI 1.4/2.x in 4K resolution in a loop. Autonomous players (reading from USB stick, SD card, or internal memory) are preferred. But if there aren't, the last hope may be Fire TV 4K stick or Chromecast Ultra, if there is a chance to feed two of them simultaneously with different content by a media server on a laptop.

there is so much. so i just start with i'm coming up with first.

windows background slide show. load the images disable the taskbar set the timer done. you can even sync it with a different PC. windows 10 runs on ARM so there are cheap SOC as an option.

wallpaper engine.

linux will be able to do this so you can just use a raspberry thingy and be done with it.

Irfanview > Slideshow option in the menu...

freeware image viewer... runs on hdmi stick with any windows os, or some ancient pc with a card that has 4K output.

How about encoding still images as a video stream?
