Hi ! Thanks for the quick reply ! I tried that, also making sure I rebooted my PC between uninstalls and installs, and also making sure I downloaded the tools using the links provided by you and I get the exact same results. It's wierd since I've been using your software for approximately 2 years now and about half of the time I use it for BD to DVD conversion with subtitles and never had any issues. Everything seems to be working fine, it converts the subtitles, multiplexes the audio and video and stops when trying to stream the subs in... It's the same thing whether I rip with AnyDVD or DVDFab. Should I try uninstalling and reinstalling again ?

With 'James and the Giant Peach' :

Yes, and you'll notice that the "--opencl" parameter is in the command line. I highlighted it above.

I just ran one of the jobs you reported as having a problem:
Code:

   - Track 4352 (eng): Reencoding audio to AC3...
[11:58:40]PHASE ONE complete
[11:58:40]PHASE TWO - Rebuild Started
 - [11:58:40] Building ALTERNATE OUTPUT Structure
 - [11:58:40] Converting 2 subtitles to DVD format.
 - [12:01:57] Starting MPLEX.

 - [12:08:03] Building DVD File Structure.
[12:10:59] - Encode and Rebuild complete
[12:10:59] JOB: SILVER_LININGS_PLAYBOOK finished.
It is working here, I'm not sure what else I can do. Is there anything different about your settings? I don't see anything in the log. Are you in an NTSC or PAL environment? Yes, I would try uninstalling and reinstalling again.

Could you post the contents of your BDREBUILDER.INI file so I can see if there is anything odd there?

I'm in NTSC mode and all BD rips I've used where ripped by myself from the North American releases of the movies I tried to convert... And like I said, I'm not havint any issues if I exclude the subtitles, the errors only show up with subtitles.

Here's my BDREBUILDER.INI file from my last test (ARGO).

I just noticed something, is it possible I'm having this issue because the destination folder as a "&" in it ??

It could be, I've never tried with that character in the path. The subs are being integrated with SPUMUX -- and I'm not sure whether it would have trouble with that. I'll do a test using a path with the "&" in it and see if it has an effect.

Yep, that's it. While BD-RB itself doesn't seem to have a problem with the "&" - it appears it is the source of the issue when attempting to mux the subs:
Code:
----------------------
[06/29/13] BD Rebuilder v0.44.15 (beta)
[17:37:57] Source: SILVER_LININGS_PLAYBOOK_00005
  - Input BD size: 26.05 GB

- Resuming from previously started job.
[17:37:58] PHASE ONE, Encoding
[17:37:58]PHASE ONE complete
[17:37:58]PHASE TWO - Rebuild Started
 - [17:37:58] Building ALTERNATE OUTPUT Structure
 - [17:37:59] Converting 2 subtitles to DVD format.
 - [17:41:15] Starting MPLEX.
 - [17:43:58] Multiplexing 2 subtitles into stream.

 - WARNING: Failed to integrate Subtitle_02
 - [17:44:00] Building DVD File Structure.
 - ERROR in attempt to create DVD structure (DVDAUTHOR)
[17:44:00] - Failed to REBUILD
I'll see if it is the way I pass the information or if it is SPUMUX itself that is the source of the issue. If it isn't the former -- I'll have to add some code to prevent the use of the "&" in acceptable pathnames.

Good catch!!

@tiamat911

Ok, I have it. The problem is that the "&" (ampersand) has a special meaning in XML. SPUMUX uses an XML descriptor as input to the muxing. So the XML interpreter had an issue when it saw it in the path name. I'll need to modify my code to look for an "&" in the path and change it to an "&" or a numeric character reference.

When I posted that last post, I lunched a new converting job with a different destination folder. I was out for a few hours and when I came back (just now), I saw that my job finished without any errors and I also saw your replies... and then it came to me that I started to have this issue when I completely re-organised my hard drive/folders and change the name of my BD/DVD workfolder from simply 'DVD' to 'BD & DVD'

I'm happy I could contribute and I'm also happy that you asked my to post my .INI file since it's what made me realise that the & could be the probleme...

Thanks again for your help, quick replies, great patience... and thanks for that great piece of software !

I've fixed it for the next release.

I tried to resize the bonus material by adding "e:r:spline16resize(640,360)" and it works almost perfectly. Almost perfectly, because short videos (deleted scenes of about 40 seconds) get resized, but also get a bitrate that would be appropriate for 1080p. That it gets resized shows that it gets recognized as bonus material.

Although it doesn't have much impact on the total size, it would be nice to have all bonus material encoded the same way.

Discovered a title which gives BD-RB problems: the Danish TV thriller The Killing, series 2. Both discs have 5 episodes, an hour each.

Ran a movie-only backup of both discs by selecting a "play all" playlist. On backup disc 1, audio sync is fine for the first 4 episodes, but badly off in episode 5. On backup disc 2, audio sync is fine in episode 1, but badly off in episodes 2-5.

MediaInfo says the source files are 24.00fps progressive. Backups were created with "KEEP_HD_AUDIO=1" so DTS-HD MA tracks were copied over as-is.

update: Ripped the DTS-HD MA tracks using MeGUI (i.e. eac3to) which does a 2nd pass on the audio file after ripping, fixing gaps and overlaps. The result is a file which syncs perfectly to BD-RB's output.

MediaInfo says the source files are 24.00fps progressive. Backups were created with "KEEP_HD_AUDIO=1" so DTS-HD MA tracks were copied over as-is.

It's gotta' be an oddly constructed disc, as it's been a long time since I've seen a sync issue in BD-RB. But, I'll take a look at it.

Instead of a Movie-Only backup of the "Play All" playlist, why wouldn't you just do a "Quick-Play Backup"? It will keep all the episodes and make it a lot more convenient for playback...

"The Mentalist" S1 D1 Episode 1... SD_PROGRESSIVE and Setup's IVTC 3:2 does well, just doesn't display any indicator in the log that it's happening as it does when using Full Backup.

Something else I noticed that perhaps you haven't?? BD-RB picks the middle episode as the biggest. Yet, it shows in the list as under an hour; same as the other episodes. It should reflect the total time of all episodes...correct? Thanks. Back to the root as to why I was testing this.. From my Optical Drive, I've not noticed any out of sync importing the first episode from DVD when the render is good.

I believe this issue is caused by whatever you use for demuxing: it does not do the "fixing gaps and overlaps" corrective pass like eac3to does.

That's a good question. I've never used Quick-Play Backup, to be honest. Guess I'll look into it now.

Yeah, I don't think importing from optical drive was the problem. Something about MPEG-2 decoding/X264LAVF was the problem. And I don't believe it was every DVD I imported. DVD importing isn't something I do very often. Fact of the matter is, it was only this one time. Though I can see using it again in the future. BD-RB is much more 1-2-3 than Multiavchd

I assume we're talking about movie-only mode. It doesn't pick the biggest. It chooses the one most likely to be the feature. It probably picked the middle one because the time was close -- and it assumed the longer episode was the "extended version". There is no indicator on a disc that says "I'm a series disc" -- so all discs are assumed to be a feature, possible extended versions, and extras. In "Quick-Play" mode, it will also not include a title that is a combination of several other titles (because it encode more than once and double the size of the disc).

Okay. That's a software difference between HandBrake and BD-RB. Cool, it's not a BD-RB bug. Movie only; Alternate MKV/MP4 vs Full Backup.
