AviSynth+ 16-bit Overlay function?
I've been using AviSynth+ for a while now and really appreciate the deep color features.
The documentation of the Overlay filter states that it only supports 8 bit, with a note for AVS+ that says "TODO". Is the documentation just outdated or does it really just support 8 bit? That would be quite a shame, since its such a general purpose filter. I understand that the Layer filter does support RGB64, but it doesn't have all the same transfer modes as Overlay, for example softlight. |

Yeah, documentation is not finished. Mentioning "shame" is a bit strong though.
EDIT: doc updated 10-16 bit formats are supported. Mode "blend" works also for 32 bits. Besides old packed RGB formats, planar RGB is supported. RGB is not converted to YUV 4:4:4 for mode "blend" YUV 420 or 422 are not converted to 444 for "blend", "luma" and "chroma" Last edited by pinterf; 13th December 2018 at 11:12. That's very good news. Mostly interested in the softlight mode and general purpose overlaying without any mode myself. |

From my WordWeb hotkey dictionary Quote:
EDIT: 2) is used very frequently by English speakers(to mean unfortunate, eg its a shame), 1) more rarely used (eg shame on you). EDIT: Missed out some additional meanings and verbs for the word 'Shame'. EDIT: "Its a pity", can also be used to mean unfortunate, and could possibly also be misconstrued.
