Fullscreen stuttering with Windows 10 v1903?
My computer was just forced to update to Windows 10 v1903, and ever since that "upgrade", I've been experiencing a momentary stutter (and corresponding presentation glitches logged in MadVR debug) when any controls—seek bar, title bar, etc—pop up over the video in fullscreen non-exclusive mode.
I reset all settings to default for MadVR to rule out a setting-specific glitch, and I ran the tests in both MPC-BE and PotPlayer to rule out a media player bug. Using a different renderer in either player eliminates the issue, as well, so it's something specifically going on with MadVR. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and, if so, did you find any resolution for it? |

I currently have my GPU set to RGB Full @ 10-bit. FreeSync disabled. I don't see anything in the MPC-HC options about fullscreen optimization ("Use auto-change fullscreen monitor mode" is disabled). Edit: My sig isn't showing up for me... not sure why. You need to right-click the app .exe or shortcut and go to the properties, and the option is in the Compatibility tab.
I am not 100% sure because I'm not using 10-bit myself but if IIRC with D3D11, fullscreen windowed can use 10-bit which would explain that it's not happening with D3D9. Maybe bringing up the OSD changes the bit depth and causes the GPU to change something else? Someone with an AMD card and a 4K TV using 10-bit should chime in.

Nvidia's color management on Win 10 is currently borked. Dumping NV for ATI when something faster than the XT comes out.

EDIT: No dice. Updated drivers to 436.15 with a clean install and the issue is still present. Any other thoughts on potential causes/solutions? Last edited by Alamei; 4th September 2019 at 05:38. |

No need to disable any filter for madVR, it is a renderer – neither a container splitter nor a content decoder.
MPC-HC and MPC-BE are both based on a directly used copy of LAV Filters. You may disable what you want to get split/decoded via e.g. a Windows wide installed DirectShow version. |

You are wrong - MPC-BE use internal filters

both are ffmpeg based and MPC-HC was using this own decoder for many many years before until at one point they switched to lavfilter.
mpc-hc is far older then lavfilter. so it's works the same as the old mpc-hc version they just keep it maintained and updated it. where MPC-HC just gave up and took the better packaged and replaced it. it's been a while: https://mpc-hc.org/2013/09/29/1.7.0-released/ and it's been an even longer while where lavfilter was considered to be far inferior to ffdshow times clearly change. mpc-be filter are still competitive even trough lav filter has an clear feature advantage right now like ordered chapter support and more hardware decoder options to name a couple. |

So, the question now is, do I want the benefits of D3D11 or 10-bit output?

Currently running a GTX 970. Hoping the issue isn't some bug Microsoft managed to introduce in driver interactions with Maxwell cards. Unfortunately, I don't have another GPU on-hand, and my processor doesn't have an integrated GPU I could test with either.
